Executive Underwriter, Environmental

Westchester Environmental is looking for an applicant to fill the position of Executive Underwriter.  Westchester Environmental writes both contractors and consultants across multiple industries.  This underwriter will be charged with directly underwriting, managing, and growing a book consisting mainly of Environmental Contractors / Consultants package, monoline site, contractors’ pollution, and environmental auto. The underwriter will be responsible for aggressively marketing to their assigned brokers to bring in opportunities and will work closely with the respective zonal manager, EVP for Westchester Environmental, as well as various Business Development Managers across the region to position this portfolio within Westchester Environmental’ s strategy for growth and profit.

The Underwriter’s primary responsibility is to underwrite individual risks through the demonstration of the following skills and abilities :

Duties may include but are not limited to :

• Solicits new and renewal submissions from appointed wholesaler brokers.
• Determines terms and conditions and complex rating plans.
• Quote / Bind coverage.
• Documents the underwriting files to company / division expectations.
• Handle files and portfolios within underwriting authority.
• Takes ownership of given production goals and utilizes all available department resources to achieve said goals.
• Local and regional broker visitations / travel is expected.

Profitability & Production :

Client & broker relations including sales calls & attendant strategies

Fundamentals of coverage, terms and conditions.  Ability to offer coverage, terms and conditions which generate a profit for the Company while meeting the needs of the customer.
