A. POSITION PURPOSE

Under the direction of the Emergency Planning Manager, the Compliance Associate aids in coordination of university-wide efforts to ensure compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act and other safety-related compliance requirements.

As a part of the University’s efforts to ensure compliance, this position assists in the administration of procedures, data collection, and reporting to ensure compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act as amended by the Campus SaVE Act and Title IX.

This position also assists in training and program development in support of community outreach and crime prevention education and crime data analysis.

A successful candidate will be able to work collaboratively with various offices at the university on strategic planning and the day-to-day program administration to ensure the institution's compliance with the applicable Federal, State and Local laws and regulations.

B. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assists in compliance efforts relating to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act or Clery Act, and other safety-related requirements.
  • Collaborates with internal and external groups to develop, implement and maintain required policies, programs and other activities relating to safety-related requirements.
  • Assists in training key institutional stakeholders on Clery Act requirements in an effort to maintain accurate records regarding security awareness, crime prevention programs, daily crime logs and fire log reports.
  • Analyzes, interprets, and communicates crime data.
  • Ensures accuracy of institutional data for Clery Act reporting.
  • Assists in the preparation, publishing, and distribution of the Annual Security and Fire Safety Report.
  • Assists in the compilation of crime and disciplinary referral data from various internal and external sources.
  • Maintain internal and external databases, conducting checks in multiple systems both internal and external and to ensure compliance, tracking logs, including but not limited to the daily updates of the Daily Crime and Fire Log.
  • Confirms proper classification of crime incident reports.
  • Gathers data from university departments to identify university owned and controlled property and determines the University's geography for Clery reporting.
  • Collaborates with university departments to ensure compliance with the emergency notification requirements of the Clery Act.
  • Stays up-to-date on pending and final changes to the Clery Act and other laws and regulations affecting Clery Act provisions.
  • Performs a variety of administrative, technical and analytical duties based on the needs of the department.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to meet safety-related compliance requirements across campus.

  • Identifies and determines cause of problems; develops and presents recommendations for improvement of established processes and practices, as requested.
  • Maintains contact with constituents and solicits feedback for improved services.
  • Maximizes productivity through use of appropriate tools; planned training and performance initiatives.
  • Researches and develops resources that create timely and efficient workflow.
  • Prepares progress reports; informs supervisor of project status; and deviation from goals. Ensures completeness, accuracy and timeliness of all operational functions.
  • Prepares and submits reports as requested and required.
  • Develops and implements guidelines to support the functions of the unit.

E. QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Years of Experience

Minimum 3 years of directly related experience in emergency planning, preferably on a college campus required.
