This position will direct, and support all work associated with providing students the support they need to persist through four years of high school.

Additionally, this director position will oversee the work of school counseling in Grades Pre-K through 12. A critical component of the work of this director is to have a vision for post-secondary advising and planning and how components of those two things intersect at the school level school leaders, staff, students, and families.

Students need to have support with long-term and short-term planning regardless of the post-secondary aspirations. This includes being able to persist and persevere once a student has graduated from City Schools.

Essential Functions

  • Establishes and leads a vision for post-secondary planning, inclusive of both college and career planning that begins in middle school.
  • Directs the work of the Office of School Counseling and ensures collaboration with other staff impacting student college and career planning.
  • Supports the work of the Office of School Counseling with monitoring high school graduation cohorts, scheduling, and
  • Directs the work of the post-secondary planning, inclusive of the development and implementation of a post-secondary plan that is adaptable to student needs.
  • Supports the implementation of the role of the Post-Secondary Advisory in our schools by establishing a cadence of professional learning, monitoring, and support to school leaders on the implementation of the role.
  • Works collaboratively with director overseeing the work of career pathways and work-based learning opportunities.
  • Works collaboratively with the director overseeing the work of supporting high schools scheduling, grading, and high school pathways.
  • Supports school-based principals and leaders through professional learning in the work of post-secondary planning for students.
  • Performs and promotes all activities in compliance with equal employment and non-discrimination policies; follows federal laws, state laws, school board policies and the professional standards.

Maximum Salary 119305.00

Minimum Salary 93826.00

Desired Qualifications

  • Master's degree in education or related field. Degree must be from an accredited college or institute.
  • Maryland State Department of Education Advanced Professional Certificate with Administrator I endorsement required, Administrator II Endorsement preferred.
  • High school leadership experience is required.
  • Three years of school-based supervisory / administrative experience in an urban education environment with demonstrated success.
  • Experience with coaching adults preferred.
  • Knowledge of developing and monitoring the implementation of project implementation plans.
  • Knowledge of establishing systems and structures for supporting secondary students with post-secondary planning
  • Possesses strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of District policies and procedures preferred.
