SUMMARY

Please Note : This position requires you to live on-site This job oversees the daily activities of the tiny home village by providing a safe, secure, and caring environment for our Tiny Home Village Citizens. The candidate is responsible for training the Tiny Home Village Assistant and interns, when applicable, and any residential home volunteers, to meet the "home programming" goals for daily living activities and the social and vocational needs of the Tiny Home Village Citizens. The Tiny Home Village Home Manager interfaces with other departments, including Administration, Development, and the Work Program and interacts with Residential staff members to create a true sense of community and dignity for our residential Citizens.

  • ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Manage the day-to-day activities of the Tiny Home Village (THV) Citizens assigned to their care. These activities include guidance and support with meal preparation, home maintenance, socialization, skill development, and supporting independence in medical treatment regiments.
  • Assist in maintaining an annual care plan for each THV Citizen including emergency residential Citizen approved by their guardian and Director of Residential. These plans will be implemented and reviewed annually or as needed by the residential Citizen's care team.
  • Assist in maintaining the business records for the THV including resident bank accounts, receipts for purchases, and supplies purchased. The THV Home Manager is responsible for reconciling the financial account maintained for the Village and each Citizen monthly.
  • Assist in planning meals, daily snacks and diets for the THV Citizens aligned to HHSC (Health and Human Services Commission) standards and medical directives; shops as needed to buy groceries and supplies for the Village to ensure adequate inventories of food and paper supplies are on hand to meet the needs of the home. Prepares a monthly meal plan for all meals and snacks.
  • Maintain an ongoing relationship with family and guardians through regular contact to report activities, issues or respond to questions related to their health and well-being.
  • Plan and participate in community life events, holiday celebrations, and fund-raising activities. THV Home Manager accompanies residential Citizens on planned activities, both on and off campus, including leisure time activities, errands, and special events. Contributes to a campus-wide monthly activities calendar.
  • Attend all necessary team meetings, check-ins with the Interim Residential Manager, and other meetings required to perform the job's duties.
  • Work safely and maintain a vigilant presence for the safety and well-being of the residential Citizens and staff in the Community. Immediately corrects unsafe conditions in the Community. Conducts regular safety checks, temperature checks, and fire drills with the THV Citizens.
  • Assists in managing the cleanliness of the Citizen Tiny Homes and THV Clubhouse including but not limited to cleaning bathrooms, kitchen, and shared areas daily. Working with THV Citizens to clean their individual rooms and maintain clean laundry.
  • Assist in maintaining a weekly chore list for THV Citizens to ensure a well-run residence. Teach Tiny Home Village Citizens to take ownership of assigned tasks and chores. Participates in bi-weekly deep cleanings of citizen Tiny Homes and clubhouse, to include thoroughly cleaning bathroom, floors, windows, fixtures, etc.
  • Provide on-call support to the Community Homes as scheduled according to the THV Manager staffing schedule and on off-hours as needed.
  • Collaborate with co-manager to create Fun Friday calendar and provide oversight for Fun Friday activities.
  • If a THV Citizen is sick or unable to attend work at BiG, the THV Home Manager will coordinate with the On Call staff to ensure the resident is well cared for. If there is not an on-call staff available, the THV Home Manager will be responsible for their care. Parents will be contacted if it is necessary to pick up their Citizen for an extended or serious illness.
  • Manager the volunteers assigned to the THV and assign appropriate activities
  • Any other duty deemed appropriate by the Residential Director.
  • SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES :

Tiny Home Village House Parent is responsible for the overall supervision and coordination of a group home. Directly supervises residents in the program. Candidate carries out responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures and applicable laws. Responsibilities include planning, cleaning, assigning tasks, appraising performance, addressing complaints, and resolving problems in the home.

III. QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and / or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE - Prefer undergraduate degree in psychology, sociology, human services or special education with 2 to 5 years' experience working with developmentally challenged adults. Previous experience supervising a group home is desirable but not required. Candidates are expected to participate in ongoing professional training opportunities to enhance their knowledge of specific disabilities to better understand the Resident's medical, psychological and vocational needs.
  • SKILLS AND ABILITIES - Candidates should possess personal characteristics such as patience, tolerance, and a willingness to learn more about specific disabilities. Candidates must have a strong sense of serving and caring for the needs of adults with functional disabilities in their care. In addition, candidates must possess strong written and verbal language skills and be competent in using Microsoft Teams, Share Point, Outlook, Office360 (Excel, Word), etc.
  • LANGUAGE SKILLS

    Ability to read, interpret, and communicate documents such as safety procedures, operating and maintenance instructions, and policy and procedure manuals. Ability to write comprehensive reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively and motivate employees at all levels in the Community.

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

    Must have strong math knowledge and possess the ability to read and understand accounting reports and statements associated with managing an annual home budget and Resident accounts.

  • Reasoning Ability - Candidates should have the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of individual behavioral issues while maintaining control of a group home situation.
  • Certificates, Licenses, Registrations - Consideration given to Certified Assisted Living Managers, PMAB (Prevention and Management of Aggressive Behavior) (Prevention and Management of Aggressive Behavior) training, CPR and first aid. Incumbents must have at least a valid driver's license from the State of Texas.
  • PHYSICAL DEMANDS - The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job . While performing the duties of this job, an employee is frequently required to communicate by listening or writing. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit; stoop; kneel; bend; crouch; crawl; and climb stairs. The employee is occasionally required to lift and / or transfer a resident to and from a wheelchair or bed. The employee must occasionally lift and / or move more than 50 lbs. when transferring a Resident to and from bed or wheelchair.
  • WORK ENVIRONMENT - The work environment is that of a large, modern group home. The Tiny Home Village House Parent manages the lives of adults with disabilities and provides personal care and hands-on support to the Resident's individual needs. This position requires a flexible individual, someone able to multi-task and adjust to the many variables found between assignments.   • While performing the duties of this job, the Tiny Home Village House Parent may be exposed to wet and / or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, and outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to chemicals, paints, extreme cold and extreme heat.
