Interim Controller Opportunity
Robert Half Management Resources is actively seeking an accomplished interim Controller to partner with a dynamic non-profit organization based in West Los Angeles for a vital 6+ month engagement. This role offers a thrilling chance to take the helm of the financial operations for a complex, grant-funded organization dedicated to advancing impactful causes. As an interim Controller, you'll lead a talented team of three accounting leaders, drive financial accuracy, ensure compliance, and deliver timely reporting for an organization managing operational budgets that range from $4 million to $350 million. Responsibilities :
- Provide leadership and mentorship to the accounting team, including Assistant Accounting Managers and an Accounting Manager, to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
- Oversee areas such as payment processing, financial statement preparation, payroll, general ledger management, and grant-related financial activities.
- Manage grant allocations, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations while maintaining accurate reporting and proper budget distribution.
- Lead month-end and year-end closing processes, including grant closings, financial statement reviews, and audit preparation.
- Prepare financial reports, monthly budgets, and ensure all deadlines for accounting processes are met with precision.
- Utilize expertise in Blackbaud Financial Edge to enhance accounting workflows and reporting capabilities.
- Support grant-related budget allocations and provide insights into the financial impact of payroll on overall budgets.
- Ensure compliance with Single Audit requirements and other regulatory standards through meticulous financial oversight.
- Collaborate with internal teams to maintain a high level of financial accuracy and transparency.
Requirements :
At least 5 years of experience in nonprofit accounting, with a focus on managing grant-funded programs is preferred.Strong understanding of grant cost allocation processes and budget management for federally and state-funded initiatives.Proficiency in Blackbaud Financial Edge or similar accounting systems is highly preferred.Demonstrated experience in preparing financial statements, supporting audits, and ensuring compliance with Single Audit standards.Proven ability to lead and inspire diverse teams, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.Must be able to work onsite and demonstrate a commitment to teamwork and collaboration.
