Works under the direct supervision of the Dining Room Manager to provide overall service to the customers (residents and guests) of the dining room.
Provides table services duties for the dining room area and catered events. Assists customers with food selections and provides efficient delivery of food and beverages.
Responsibilities include resetting areas for the next service / meal and working in other Nutritional Services areas as assigned by supervisor on an as-needed basis.
Adheres to and complies with established Morningside Ministries regulatory agencies policy standard practices and procedures.
Incumbent must provide outstanding customer service in a friendly manner. Ability to identify issues of concern and report them to supervisor as needed for follow-up and to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Requires ability to read, write and understand business documents which are written in English.
- Requires ability to communicate verbally with residents, families, visitors and co-workers. Requires ability to make self clearly understood by others.
- Requires ability to understand and follow basic written and oral step-by-step instructions.
- Requires ability to move food serving and preparation equipment as needed, using up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and / or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and / or up to 10 pounds of force continuously to move objects.
- Work deals mostly with objects, equipment and / or machines where the seeing job is at or within arms reach. Depth perception and field of vision (peripheral) are of some importance.
- Requires ability to turn, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, push, pull, handle, stand, walk over 75% of shift.
- Requires ability to safely utilize kitchen equipment and recognize differences in sound generated by equipment or machinery which may indicate operation problems or safety concerns.
- Requires ability to work under close supervision performing routine, standardized tasks.
- Requires ability to perform tasks with due consideration for residents in vicinity and ability to cooperate and work with other employees.
- Requires ability to learn basic food serving, cleanliness and sanitation requirements.
- Requires commitment to Christian principles and teachings both professionally and personally.
- Requires sufficient good health to properly discharge duties. Employees shall not be permitted to work who have infectious disease or skin lesion for the duration of the communicability.
- Requires ability to comply with Patient Rights, all regulatory requirements, and all company policies and procedures as stated now and in the future.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Sets up assigned work station with all necessary supplies prior to serving times and replenishes supplies such as flatware, dishes, condiments, etc. as needed.
- Greets customers in a courteous manner and assists with questions (i.e. table reservations, etc.).
- Answers questions and makes suggestions regarding food and service, records orders, relays orders to production area, and serves courses to customers.
- Observes customer to fulfill any additional requests and to perceive when meal has been completed.
- Clears table as needed while customers are enjoying meal, then cleans and resets table for next service.
- Follows unit procedures for recording and presenting order to the customer and determining if meal is part of residents meal plan.
- Cleans assigned areas by following established cleaning schedules and procedures for service areas.
