Technical Writer
Work with subject matter experts in the development, publishing and record keeping of policies, procedures, work instructions, guidance documentation, training material and presentation material.
Support worldwide operations and operational support staff in document control processes.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in English or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in technical writing required.
- Strong English grammar, proofreading, and copy editing skills.
- Strong understanding of International Standards for document and record control requirements.
- Work independently both individually and within diverse work groups.
- Expert level knowledge with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat.
- Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Gather and organize information for the development of policies, procedures and other company documentation.
- Using standard company format, translate technical information into text that the average reader can understand.
- Complete writing assignment according to set standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style and terminology.
- Ensure document control practices are applied to management system documentation which includes identification of document owners, and notices of obsolete and uncontrolled documentation.
- Consult with functional leadership and subject matter experts for the development of policies, procedures, guidance documentation, work instructions, training materials, and / or presentation materials.
- Oversee maintenance / update of management system documentation.
- Support operations and operational support staff in document control processes.
- Confer with operations and support personnel to establish technical specifications and to determine subject material to be developed for inclusion into company management system.
- Review published materials and recommend revisions or changes in scope, format, content, and methods of reproduction.
- Select photographs, drawings, sketches, diagrams, and charts to illustrate material.
- Study drawings, specifications, mockups, and product samples to integrate and delineate technology, operating procedure, and production sequence and detail.
- Review manufacturer's and trade catalogs, drawings and other data relative to operation, maintenance, and other technical information.
- Work on project announcements and inter-company communications through coordination with corporate communications group.
- Assist the performance improvement group with graphic design for documentation and presentations as required.
- Maintain records and files of work and revisions.
- Edit, standardize or make changes to material prepared by other writers of Noble documentation.
- Provide technical staff assistance when needed.
- Interface with all departments in the performance of job functions.
- Other duties and / or special projects as assigned.
