Summary
Our client is looking for a seasoned and collaborative Design Engineering Manager with Metal Fabrication experience to lead a team of 3-4 to improve existing product designs, help develop new designs, and support cross-functional teams, such as manufacturing, purchasing, and marketing, as needed.

Primary Responsibilities
- Management of the Engineering Department / New Product Development Team
- Hands-on design & development of new products and concepts
- Develop and coordinate department training
- Lead budgeting activity for the Engineering Department.
- Identify and adjust personnel & capital / tool needs
- Support Sales & Quality teams in identifying & resolving product issues as well as supporting product improvements with customers as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering (BSME preferred)
- 7+ years of Product Design experience with an established skillset of new Product Development, efficiency improvements, and implementing / launching designs and solutions
- 3+ years of experience as an Engineering Supervisor or Manager with at least 2 Engineers as Direct Reports.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience
- Experience in and knowledge of Metals Manufacturing processes (including metal cutting, bending, welding, roll-forming, stamping, and / or casting)
- Strong experience with developing and improving manufacturing assembly processes and equipment
- Demonstrated experience with rapid product concept development
- Experience with Solidworks is preferred
- ERP experience
- Solid written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate and work within cross-functional teams, as well as the ability to self-prioritize and work independently
- The ability and desire to fully understand our products and our customers’ applications
- Significant experience, and demonstrated proficiency, in designing products for manufacturing. Including small batch size, as well as repetitive, higher volume runs
- Demonstrated ability to use analytical techniques to determine functional and design requirements for new or existing designs
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to communicate with, and work effectively with, people at all levels of an organization (vendors and customers), teamwork, and planning skills
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet all required deadlines
