Fulfillment Center Lead Screen Printer

Overview

As our Fulfillment Center Lead Screen Printer , you will be responsible for operating and set up of screen printing equipment to produce customer specific decorated product. Responsible for printing, cleaning, reclaiming and performing other screen maintenance as needed. Responsible for training other operators and acting in a lead role on the floor. Other responsibilities include using the exposure unit and development of screens and plates. May also include pad printing or other types of decorating processes.

Detailed Description

Essential Functions:

• Operating screen printing equipment and other decorating equipment
• Training operators on the screen printing process
• Takes on a lead role assisting the supervisor to run day to day operations
• Recommends new process for improved screen printing
• Recommends and researches new screen printing equipment
• Unpacking and repacking of printed product
• Responsible for all related pre-press and printing functions
• Quality control of printed items
• Cleaning screens which includes removing ink residue and tape from the screens
• Processes designated screens with reclaiming solution to remove stencil emulsion or film, applies haze remover to remove ghosting and degreases new or reclaimed screens
• Responsible for screen maintenance which includes the following:Removal of damaged screen meshPrepping the screen frameSelecting and cutting mesh to sizeStretching screen mesh across the screen to required tension specification
• Positions film positives, exposes and develops screen or plate
• Tapes and blocks out perimeter of the screen
• Checks for and repairs pinholes on the screen
• Utilizes personnel protective devices and other safety equipment as required for personnel safety
• Responsible for properly disposing of hazardous waste
• Maintains a clean and safe work station
• Actively participate in Impact planning sessions and work to improve engagement
• Maintains regular and predictable attendance
• Abides by all policies and procedures of Oriental Trading Company
• Must be able to attend face to face meetings on short or little advance notice.
• Work requires in-person collaboration among colleagues and contractors.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Thorough knowledge of single and multicolor screen making, single and multicolor press procedures, and both manual and automatic press machine use
• Ability to read and understand specifications of each job to determine the correct press settings, inks and other materials needed to process the job
• Proven analytical, problem solving and decision making skills
• General PC experience
• Able to manage multiple projects and deadlines
• Basic math
• Able to work independently with an eye for detail
• Familiar with the pantone color chart
• Able to mix inks to create the appropriate ink color
• Must be detail oriented and able to work in a highly productive environment in a safe manner

Education

• High School Diploma or equivalent required

Experience

• 5 years prior multicolor screen printing experience required

Other Qualifications and Physical Requirements

• The ability to communicate and understand English in written and verbal form
• Ability to walk and/or stand for the duration of the shift
• Ability to squat and/or bend frequently
• Ability to reach overhead to 72” with both arms
• Ability to lift up to 20 lbs frequently
• Ability to Occasionally lift 40 lbs
• Ability to carry up to 20 lbs a ten foot distance
• Ability to occasionally push/pull totes and rolling carts with up to 50 lbs of force
• Ability to work in elevated work areas up to 28 feet high
• Ability to occasionally climb stairs and frequently utilize step stools to access assigned work zones and product
