General Summary
The Assistant Director of Student Leadership and Belonging supports the vibrant campus of Community College of Denver (CCD) by providing strategic oversight of student engagement, belonging, leadership development, and co-curricular programming. This position supervises professional and student staffincluding the Student Leadership and Belonging Coordinator and student employeesadvises student leaders, including the Student Government Association (SGA), coordinates signature campus events, and implements inclusive leadership series and student development initiatives aligned with CCD's Strategic Plan. The Assistant Director plays a pivotal role in fostering an inclusive sense of community and belonging among a diverse student population.
Primary Duties
Provide direct supervision, support, and performance evaluation for the full-time Student Leadership and Belonging Coordinator and SPARC student work-study staff.
Design, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive leadership development series focused on equity, identity, and inclusive practices.
Plan, coordinate, and assess major college and Tri-Institutional events (e.g., Welcome Week, Fall Fest, Spring Fling) in collaboration with internal and Auraria Campus partners.
Support the development and implementation of a holistic student engagement and belonging strategy aligned with institutional strategic goals.
Manage program budgets, including tracking expenditures for leadership programs, events, programming, commencement, and student organization activities.
Coordinate marketing of student engagement, belonging, and leadership initiatives through student newsletters, social media, flyers, and digital platforms.
Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS : Any equivalent combination of education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities. Education : (Minimum / Required) Bachelor's degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Educational Leadership, or related field required. Experience : (required / minimum) Minimum of three years of progressive experience at the collegiate level in the area of student activities, leadership, or related student affairs areas. Demonstrated history of planning, executing, and evaluating large-scale student programs and leadership initiatives. Supervisory experience of student or volunteer staff / demonstrated managerial skills. Knowledge / Skills / Abilities : (required / minimum) Strong knowledge of student development theory, leadership models, and inclusive engagement strategies. Ability to engage and support diverse student populations, including first-generation, BIPOC, and non-traditional students. Proficient in event planning, risk management, and program assessment. Exceptional organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills. Familiarity with social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, etc.) and digital content creation. Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, student-centered environment. Must be able to lift 30 pounds, walk long distances.
Equipment Used : Computers, printers, phones, copy machines, fax machines, and scanners. Occasionally, there will be the need to use and run entertainment tools like a popcorn machine, sno-cone machine, cotton candy machine, or others as necessary.
Other Considerations
This position requires work during evening hours and weekends when necessary.
