Job description
Caregiver - In-Home Senior Care

Part-Time | Full-Time | Flexible Hours | Meaningful Work

Pay: $20.50 - $24.00 per hour (depending on experience and certification)
About the Role

Senior Helpers - South Tacoma is seeking compassionate and dependable caregivers to join our growing team.

As a caregiver, you will provide one-on-one support that allows seniors to remain safe, independent, and comfortable in their own homes.

We are a woman-owned, family-operated agency committed to creating a supportive and respectful workplace for caregivers while providing exceptional care to our clients.

Whether you are looking for part-time or full-time work, we offer flexible schedules, supportive leadership, and meaningful opportunities to make a real difference every day.

Our caregivers provide individualized care that allows them to build genuine connections with the seniors they serve.
Certified Caregivers Encouraged to Apply

We strongly encourage Washington State Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA) and Home Care Aides (HCA) to apply. If you already have your certification and experience providing in-home care, we would love to hear from you.

We also welcome applicants who are currently enrolled in a CNA or HCA training program and will be certified soon.

Responsibilities

As a caregiver with Senior Helpers, your work may include:
  • Building meaningful relationships with clients through conversation and companionship
  • Assisting with activities of daily living such as dressing, walking, and personal hygiene
  • Supporting light housekeeping and meal preparation
  • Engaging clients in hobbies and recreational activities such as games, gardening, or crafts
  • Observing and reporting any changes in client condition to the care team
  • Accompanying clients to medical appointments, grocery shopping, and community outings
  • Communicating with the care team and documenting care tasks using our caregiving app
Documentation Expectations

Accurate documentation is an essential part of providing safe, high-quality care. Caregivers are required to complete detailed shift notes in our caregiving app at the end of every visit, documenting the care provided, the client's condition, and any changes observed.

Clear documentation helps ensure continuity of care between caregivers and keeps families and the care team informed.

Caregivers who take pride in thorough documentation and professional communication are highly valued on our team.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you should have a genuine heart for caregiving and a commitment to reliability.

Additional requirements include:
  • A genuine passion for caring for seniors
  • CNA or HCA certification required
  • Minimum 1 year caregiving experience
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Valid driver's license
  • Must have a reliable cell phone and be comfortable using caregiving apps for scheduling and documentation
  • Must be able to write clear and accurate documentation in English
  • Must be comfortable using technology to clock in/out, review care plans, and complete shift notes
  • Ability to pass background check and drug screening
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
Reliability is essential in this role. Our clients depend on consistent care, so applicants must be dependable and committed to showing up for scheduled shifts.

Benefits

We value our caregivers and work hard to support them.

Benefits include:
  • Competitive pay ($20.50 - $24.00 per hour based on experience)
  • Flexible scheduling
  • Paid time off (PTO)
  • Paid orientation and ongoing training
  • Attendance and client feedback bonuses
  • Employee recognition program
  • Referral bonus program
  • Mileage reimbursement when applicable
  • Professional development opportunities
  • Virtual Primary Care benefit through Vitable Health (available after 90 days of employment)
  • Meaningful work helping seniors remain independent in their homes
