Position Summary Reporting directly to the Director of Talent Development and Workforce Innovation, the Employment Coordinator - Construction Sector will develop employer partnerships with construction companies, contractors, and building trades organizations who will afford OBT program participants the opportunity to apply for open positions.
The Employment Coordinator is expected to enter the position with a number of these partnerships already in hand and to develop additional partnerships that speak to the interest of OBT participants with a specific focus on construction roles including construction laborers, apprenticeships, skilled trades assistants, warehouse workers, equipment operators, and building maintenance positions.
The Employment Coordinator will work to prepare participants for these interviews, including resume development, cover letter development, and interviewing skills tailored to construction and trades positions.
This role will specifically work with our high school equivalency program participants to support their transition to employment opportunities in the construction sector with a primary emphasis on achieving high placement rates.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities Engage in biweekly employment services meeting and meetings with key youth employment staff from each youth employment program in order to share job orders, discussed work readiness preparation activities, provide feedback relative to job readiness, etc.
Conduct comprehensive intakes and assessments on participants designed to evaluate employment history, education, skills, qualifications, support service needs and vocational interests.
Prepare participants individually and in groups relative to job searching skills, resume writing, application completion, and interview readiness for job orders.
Complete weekly data entry, including but not limited to case notes, new intakes, employment verifications, etc.
Design and create recruitment strategies, such as hiring events and on-site employer events.
Responsible for a minimum of 15 placements per month at a minimum of 25 hours of work per week, with a strong emphasis on meeting and exceeding placement targets consistently.
Assist in identifying and developing services and programs not currently being offered.
Provide specialized support to high school equivalency program participants, understanding their unique educational journeys and employment preparation needs specific to construction and trades career paths.
Develop and maintain relationships with construction companies, general contractors, trade unions, apprenticeship programs, and building maintenance organizations to create robust employment pipelines for participants.
Actively track and follow up on all job placements to ensure participant retention and success in construction roles.
