Job Summary
The Registered Nurse (RN) is accountable for the care of a group of patients, delivering safe, effective, patient- and family-centered care with a focus on quality outcomes and customer satisfaction.
The RN supports a financially stable unit, engages in professional development, and practices evidence-based care within a Practice Governance framework. This role includes supervision of licensed and non-licensed staff and application of the Kristin M. Swanson Model of Care to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
The RN prioritizes patient comfort, education, and satisfaction while utilizing clinical expertise to deliver high-quality care and mentor/precept staff.
Key Responsibilities
Assessment
- Perform assessments and reassessments per policy or patient condition
- Demonstrate sound independent clinical decision-making
Planning & Implementation
- Initiate, prioritize, and implement patient care plans
- Collaborate with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams
- Utilize resources effectively to support patient and organizational needs
Evaluation
- Monitor and document patient responses to clinical interventions
Education
- Provide and evaluate patient/family education during stay and at discharge
Leadership
- Delegate tasks to licensed and unlicensed personnel
- Serve as a mentor/preceptor
- Promote teamwork and a collaborative environment
- Identify and communicate improvement opportunities
- Participate in quality, safety, and process improvement initiatives
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards
- Engage in Practice Governance activities
Required Qualifications
Experience
- Minimum 2 years of acute care RN experience
- Epic experience required
- Acute inpatient experience required
Education
- Nursing Diploma or Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN)
Licensure & Certifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license – Kentucky (required at submission)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
