Underwriting Analyst
Tokio Marine HCC is seeking an Underwriting Analyst to join our Accident & Health division. This role supports the underwriting team by analyzing, evaluating, and interpreting data for new, renewal, and existing business. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and eager to learn the fundamentals of underwriting within a dynamic specialty-insurance environment.
Key responsibilities include :
- Review and analyze plan documents, schedules of benefits, and aggregate reports from TPAs and brokers to support accurate underwriting decisions.
- Enter data from requests for proposal (RFPs) into internal systems to generate rate calculations.
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of underwriting data for new, renewal, and sold cases.
- Prepare quote documentation and sold-case materials for broker or producer review.
- Track outstanding documentation and maintain complete, organized files.
- Coordinate communication between Underwriting, Marketing, and Administration to ensure a seamless client experience.
- Process non-renewals and terminations, ensuring timely notifications.
- Support underwriters by obtaining required information and adhering to departmental standards and timelines.
- Learn and apply underwriting guidelines, compliance requirements, and risk-assessment principles.
Qualifications : Education :
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Risk Management, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.Experience :
Prior insurance, underwriting, or data-analysis experience preferred, but not required.Ability to read and interpret plan documents, claim reports, and bid specifications.Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and organizational skills.Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access).Effective written and verbal communication skills with a professional, customer-focused approach.Competencies :
