Job description

Project Manager

Icomera is a leading global innovator in connectivity solutions within the transportation sector. We are at the forefront of transforming public transport, making it smarter, safer, greener, and more connected than ever before. At Icomera you work with products used by many users around the world, including passengers on some of the world's largest train and bus operators.

Are you looking for the opportunity to take full ownership of complex, high-impact projects and see them through from concept to completion? We are seeking a highly driven and commercially minded Project Manager to lead the successful delivery of complex customer projects across our North America region.

Job type: Full-time

Workplace conditions: Onsite

Location: Rockville, MD (U.S) or Toronto, ON (Canada)

About the Role:

In this role, you will take full ownership of projects from initiation through to handover, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget while maintaining strong financial discipline and accountability. You will partner closely with Engineering, Finance, and cross-functional stakeholders to bring structure, clarity, and momentum to every phase of the project lifecycle. This is a high-impact role where you will not only execute projects but actively drive outcomes, anticipating risks, solving challenges proactively, and ensuring operational excellence from day one. Your ability to influence stakeholders, manage competing priorities, and deliver measurable business results will be critical to your success. As a key member of our North America team and part of Icomera's Global Business Unit, you will play a central role in delivering value to our customers while contributing directly to the region's growth and performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own and lead the end-to-end delivery of complex customer projects across the NORAM region, from initiation through successful handover to Service Delivery
  • Develop, maintain, and execute comprehensive project management plans, ensuring alignment to scope, contractual obligations, and business KPIs
  • Drive project governance and execution discipline, including schedule, budget, risk management, and change control processes
  • Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate operational, commercial, and financial risks, ensuring projects remain on track and profitable
  • Lead and coordinate cross-functional teams across Engineering, Finance, Supply Chain, and external partners, ensuring clear accountability and alignment
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and internal stakeholders, acting as the central point of accountability for project success
  • Maintain full ownership of project financials, including budgeting, forecasting, cost control, billing, and cash flow management, with accountability at the EBIT level
  • Ensure all project activities, decisions, and deliverables are accurately documented, contractually aligned, and audit-ready
  • Implement and uphold robust project governance frameworks, including reporting, documentation control, and performance tracking systems
  • Drive operational excellence and continuous improvement, incorporating lessons learned, optimizing processes, and enhancing delivery outcomes
  • Provide clear, data-driven reporting to leadership and clients, ensuring transparency, accuracy, and timely decision-making
  • Foster a high-performing, collaborative team environment focused on accountability, quality, and results

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years of experience managing complex, customer-facing projects, ideally within IT, telecommunications, or infrastructure environments
  • Proven experience delivering projects across multiple jurisdictions (U.S. and Canada preferred)
  • PMP or equivalent project management certification strongly preferred
  • Strong understanding of project management methodologies, including risk, change, and financial management
  • Experience managing fixed-price or commercially sensitive projects, with accountability for budget and profitability
  • Proficiency with project tools (e.g., MS Project, SAP or similar systems)
  • Exposure to connectivity, networking, or IT infrastructure environments (e.g., RF, IP networks, Linux-based systems) is highly desirable
  • Demonstrated ability to balance commercial objectives with operational delivery, including cost control and financial accountability
  • Strong attention to detail with a focus on data accuracy, documentation, and compliance
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time across the NORAM region.

Who You Are:

To thrive in this role, you work well in collaborative, cross-functional environment where you can influence outcomes, drive commercial results, and partner with engineering, finance, and stakeholders to deliver measurable success. If you're motivated by accountability, enjoy solving challenges proactively, and are energized by delivering projects that make a real business impact, this role could be the right fit for you.

Our Offer:

  • A great opportunity to influence the future of public transport technology in an expansive market. We are in the midst of the environmentally important "smart-society" movement that reduces emissions and improves quality of life around the world
  • Team-focused environment
  • New modern premises
  • A flexible, exciting, fun and varied working day
  • At Icomera, you get an opportunity to work with products that are visible to a large number of users around the world, including passengers on some of the world's largest train and bus operators in Europe and North America

Benefits Include:

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) retirement plan with employer contribution
  • Paid time off (PTO), sick leave, and company holidays
  • Paid parental leave (where applicable)
  • Life and disability insurance
  • Health Savings Accounts, Health & Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts
  • Employee assistance program (EAP)
  • Supplemental Benefits such as critical care and accident insurance

Ready to be part of something exciting and make a real difference in the connected future of transport? We'd love to hear from you! We will be reviewing applicants ongoing.
