Position Title Adjunct Faculty, Music Business (Catalog Music Marketing) School / Division Hofstra College of Liberal Arts and Sciences-Humanties Full Time/Part Time Part‑Time Description The Hofstra College of Liberal Arts & Sciences is pleased to invite applications for an Instructor in the Department of Music at Hofstra University. The Department of Music welcomes applications from candidates with professional and academic experience in music industry studies, with particular emphasis on artist development, heritage artist careers, digital and catalog marketing, and contemporary music business practices. Responsibilities Teaching an undergraduate course focused on the professional career of a heritage recording artist within the music industry. Delivering weekly lectures, featuring special guests, that examine key aspects of an artist's career, including creative, legal, and commercial considerations. Guiding students through a hands‑on, project‑based learning experience in which they conceptually design and execute promotional strategies for a track from the artist's forthcoming reissue release on various digital platforms. Supporting efforts to create a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment for faculty, staff, and students. Topics Digital Marketing Catalog Marketing Sampling/Trademark Rights/Recording Agreements/Master Rights Studio session deconstructing and assessing previous recording Artist Management Student Projects / Marketing Streaming: playlist creation and pitching Social media: content creation, posting and assessment Publicity: blogs, micro influencers Sync/Micro Sync Tour Marketing Qualifications Bachelor's degree And/or equivalent professional experience working in the music industry, music marketing, and catalog music marketing Successful candidates will have demonstrated a commitment to promoting equity, diversity, and inclusion in an educational environment.
