Sr. Project Manager
The Project Manager / Senior Project Manager provides leadership for complex automation, SCADA, and systems integration programs across municipal and industrial infrastructure markets. This role is responsible for the full lifecycle delivery of capital projects and multi-project portfolios, from concept development and design-build execution through commissioning and client turnover.
The position combines project execution accountability with senior technical oversight, ensuring solutions are architected, delivered, and supported in alignment with client operational needs, cybersecurity standards, and enterprise integration strategies.
This role serves as both a delivery leader and trusted client advisor, guiding modernization roadmaps, managing risk, and driving disciplined execution across engineering, field service, and subcontractor teams.
Project Leadership & Execution
Lead delivery of SCADA, controls, and automation projects from initiation through closeout.
Manage single projects or portfolios of concurrent engagements across multiple facilities or clients.
Establish execution strategy, staffing plans, and delivery models aligned with scope complexity.
Drive adherence to scope, budget, schedule, and contractual obligations.
Implement risk mitigation plans and escalation protocols for technical and commercial issues.
Support design-build and alternative delivery programs, including GMP development.
Client & Stakeholder Leadership
Serve as executive technical interface for clients, consultants, and contractors.
Facilitate requirements definition, solution alignment, and technical decision-making.
Lead design reviews, progress meetings, and executive steering discussions.
Manage escalations and drive resolution across commercial and technical fronts.
Build long-term trusted advisor relationships supporting repeat business.
Portfolio Financial & Commercial Management
Oversee project financial performance across revenue, cost, and margin.
Support forecasting, backlog planning, and revenue recognition.
Partner with accounting on billing, cash flow, and cost controls.
Manage change-orders, claims mitigation, and contract negotiations.
Support ERP / PMIS utilization for scheduling and financial tracking.
Cross-Functional Team Leadership
Direct coordination across engineering, design, programming, and field service teams.
Provide mentorship and functional leadership to Project Managers and Engineers.
Align internal resources with project demand and regional workload.
Support recruiting, onboarding, and technical staff development initiatives.
Promote standardized delivery practices and documentation discipline.
Technical & Documentation Oversight
Oversee preparation of technical and project documentation, including specifications, change orders, operation manuals, and closeout materials.
Review and approve process and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), redlines, and other project drawings.
Ensure project deliverables (controls design, programming, testing, and commissioning) are completed to standard.
Support pricing, proposals, and quotation development as required.
Continuous Improvement & Technical Strategy
Identify modernization opportunities for clients and internal delivery models.
Drive process improvements in execution, staffing, and tools.
Support technology adoption virtualization, cloud SCADA, cybersecurity frameworks. Contribute to corporate engineering standards and best practices.
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor's degree in engineering, Project Management, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
Skills
1025+ years in automation, SCADA, or systems integration environments.
Demonstrated leadership managing complex capital infrastructure projects.
Experience delivering municipal water/wastewater or industrial utility systems.
Background in design-build or multi-site program delivery strongly preferred.
Prior responsibility for portfolios, regional operations, or program execution a plus.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Travel to client sites for design reviews, construction coordination, and commissioning.
Ability to access industrial and municipal facilities.
Extended hours may be required during critical project phases.
Field environments may include exposure to electrical equipment, construction zones, and operational plants.
