Production Associate The Production Associate plays a key role in manufacturing and assembling custom windows and door walls used in residential applications. You will work in one of several production areas, contributing to sub-assembly processes while learning multiple stations across the facility. This position involves hands-on work with materials, tools, and equipment in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Responsibilities Assemble windows and door walls by accurately measuring and cutting vinyl, glass, and other materials according to specifications. Perform repetitive lifting and moving of materials, typically ranging from 10 to 50+ pounds depending on the assigned area. Punch holes into materials using appropriate tools and follow established production methods. Strip materials as required for assembly, ensuring components are prepared correctly. Use hand tools such as hammers and other basic tools safely and effectively during the assembly process. Place flexible glass onto frames with care and precision to maintain quality and safety standards. Support machine-based operations, including potential use of saws or welding equipment when eligible for direct employment, following all training and safety protocols. Perform repetitive motions such as grasping, reaching, pulling, pushing, bending, and other physical movements throughout the shift. Stock materials at workstations and maintain a clean, organized workspace and general production areas. Follow production quotas and timelines, contributing to a fast-paced environment where output and quality metrics are important. Adapt to varying job duties, as tasks and responsibilities may differ from person to person and may change as you rotate through sub-assemblies. Comply with all safety guidelines and operational procedures, reporting any issues or concerns to leadership. Perform other duties or responsibilities as assigned to support overall production needs. Essential Skills Ability to lift 2530 pounds repetitively throughout the shift, with capacity to handle up to 50 pounds for extended periods when required. Demonstrated experience in roles where lifting 50 pounds was required for the majority of a shift (at least 6 out of 8 hours). Basic knowledge of hand tools, including the ability to properly hold and handle a hammer and similar tools; willingness to be trained on specific tool use. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced production environment where meeting quotas and performance targets is important. Prior experience working in environments with quotas or production goals, with the ability to describe how those expectations were met. Ability to stand on your feet for the entire duration of an 8-hour or longer shift. Demonstrated ability to perform frequent bending, twisting, and squatting during the workday. Comfort working in a hot, noisy production environment with fluctuating temperatures and moderate noise levels. Reliability and consistency in attendance, punctuality, and staying until the job is completed for the day. Willingness to learn multiple sub-assembly tasks and rotate through different positions as needed. Additional Skills & Qualifications Ability to read a tape measure accurately is preferred and considered a strong plus. Previous experience in production, general labor, or assembly roles. Experience in general production tasks such as packaging, packing, or lifting boxes. Experience using basic power tools in a work setting. Comfort working with repetitive tasks and motions while maintaining attention to detail. Openness to cross-training across different areas such as shipping and receiving, frames, sashes, or doorwall/casements. Why Work Here? Work Environment This role is based indoors in a manufacturing facility with temperature conditions that reflect the seasons, including hot or cold and humid or dry periods. The environment is similar to a large garage, with big doors that can be opened to create airflow, and fans placed throughout the production areas to help with temperature control. The break room is air-conditioned, and employees can use it during breaks and lunch. During very hot weather, coolers with beverages such as Gatorade are provided in the break room for everyone. The noise level is moderate, typical of a production setting, and the building is well lit. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday from 5:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., with the understanding that employees often stay until the work is completed, typically around 2:30 p.m., averaging 4050 hours per week and rarely exceeding 50 hours. Employees receive one 10-minute break in the morning and a 1-hour lunch, and they may leave the premises during lunch. The culture is relaxed regarding brief bathroom and water breaks, as long as productivity and line performance are maintained. Dress expectations align with a typical production environment, where practical, comfortable clothing and appropriate footwear are necessary for safety and mobility. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Taylor, MI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $16.00/hr.
