Job Title: Lead Counselor High School

Primary Purpose:
Plan implement and evaluate a comprehensive program of guidance at assigned campus. Supervise a proactive developmental guidance program to encourage all students to maximize personal growth and development. Serve as a leader to assist with coordinating academic information and all counseling services.
Qualifications:
- Three years of secondary teaching experience (preferred)
Education/Certification:
- Masters degree in school counseling
- Valid Texas School Counselor Certification
Experience:
- Has a minimum of 3 years secondary counseling experience
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Knowledge of counseling procedures student appraisal and career development
- Knowledge of appropriate counselor interventions for student achievement and behavior
- Ability to present information in one-on-one small group and large group situations tostudents parents and district staff
- Knowledge of district guidelines pertinent to counseling services
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Willingness to serve in a leadership capacity coordinating the work of colleagues
- Well organized and able to manage multiple responsibilities and tasks on time
- Excellent organizational communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational communication public relations and interpersonal skill
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Performs all the duties associated with Secondary School Counselors AND
- Works side-by-side with campus administrators in evaluating student data in order forthe counseling department to support ALL students in scholastic success and behavior and emotional needs that may be a barrier to a positive school experience; and guide students in planning for graduation and college and career readiness
- Coordinates the monitoring of students experiencing truancy failures and behavioral issues and work with the counseling team and campus administrators to develop a planof intervention
- Assist with coordinating the activities of the counseling department including schedulingschool day and evening events for communicating important information to students and Parents
- Works with middle school counselors to coordinate the course selection process and Transition activities of students from middle school to high school
- Coordinates consistency in student scheduling data entry of grades and production of transcripts
- Pursue professional development activities that align with campus goals and initiatives and currentprofessional research.
- Other related duties as assigned
