Job description

Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Technical Consultant

Woodard & Curran is a national engineering, science and operations firm with a simple vision for clean water, a safe environment, healthy communities and happy people. As an employee-owned company, we strive to cultivate teams that encourage collaboration in an inclusive culture. We seek talented individuals from all backgrounds to help us address a broad range of water and environmental issues. We prioritize our people, offering opportunities for professional growth, ownership and flexibility. This commitment enables us to make a meaningful impact on our clients, communities and the planet.

We are looking for an experienced Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Technical Consultant to join our Northeast regional team and serve local clients as well as clients across the country. An EHS Technical Consultant serves as a trusted advisor to clients, helping them manage regulatory compliance, reduce operational risk, and improve environmental and workplace safety performance. The role combines technical expertise, project management, client relationship management, and business development to deliver successful EHS solutions across a variety of markets.

Who are we looking for:

Woodard & Curran has an opportunity for a dynamic, detail-oriented, and client-focused Technical Consultant who can support and manage EHS projects and provide innovative and superior services to our industrial, commercial, municipal, and institutional clients. The selected candidate will collaborate with our National Technical Leaders and Client Managers delivering work for our national EHS Practice with support from a diverse, talented group of engineers and scientists. Successful EHS Technical Consultant must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously, coordinate diverse stakeholders, solve complex problems, and effectively communicate technical information to both regulatory agencies and business leaders. Ultimately, the role is focused on helping organizations operate safely, sustainably, and in compliance with regulatory requirements while achieving their operational and business objectives.

Ready to make an impact?

If you are motivated by meaningful client work, technical problem-solving, and the opportunity to help organizations operate more safely and sustainably, we would be excited to hear from you. We welcome candidates who bring curiosity, sound judgment, and a collaborative approach to EHS consulting.

Location: Northeast Region; remote/hybrid opportunities considered

Travel: Approximately 50% travel in-region is anticipated for client engagement, site visits, and team collaboration.

What You Will Be Doing at Woodard & Curran:

  • Lead EHS consulting projects from proposal through delivery, managing scope, schedule, budget, quality, and client expectations.
  • Apply Woodard & Curran's Project Management Framework to deliver consistent, high-quality project outcomes.
  • Advise clients on environmental compliance, occupational health and safety, process safety management, hazardous materials, permitting, audits, risk assessments, and EHS management systems.
  • Translate complex federal, state, and local regulatory requirements into practical strategies that support safe, compliant, and efficient operations.
  • Serve as a primary client contact, building trusted relationships and understanding each client's business, risk profile, and operational goals.
  • Lead and mentor multidisciplinary teams of engineers, scientists, and safety professionals.
  • Support business growth through client development, proposal preparation, staffing coordination, and identification of new consulting opportunities

What You Will Need To Succeed:

  • 812 years of professional experience in environmental, engineering, or EHS consulting, with project management experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, environmental science, occupational safety, or a related field; professional licensure or interest in obtaining a professional credential is a plus.
  • Program/project experience within RCRA, TSCA, TRI, Tier II, SPCC, and DOT hazardous materials recommended.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, budgets, schedules, and teams while maintaining effective client communication.
  • Experience interpreting environmental, health, and safety regulations and preparing compliance plans, audit reports, permit applications, training materials, and related deliverables.
  • Strong technical writing, verbal communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Commitment to safe work practices and the ability to model safety leadership for clients and project teams.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across large, multidisciplinary teams.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft platforms; interest in developing tools, templates, or automated processes to improve EHS compliance work is encouraged.
