Role Summary
As a Senior Implementation Engineer, you will own the end-to-end implementation of Cinnamon’s integration endpoints into customer environments. You will translate business requirements into technical deliverables, configure and validate HL7 / X12 interfaces, SFTP workflows, secure network connections, and ensure a seamless go-live experience. This role blends deep hands-on engineering with light project-lead responsibilities working side-by-side with customer IT teams while coordinating milestones internally to keep multiple implementations on track.
This role requires hands-on engineering expertise and the ability to independently solve technical challenges across integrations, with minimal guidance. Candidates must be able to troubleshoot, configure, and optimize systems without relying solely on external direction.
Key Responsibilities
System & Data Integration
Configure, validate, and promote HL7 interfaces (ADT, SIU, ORM / OMP, RDE / RDS). Stand up NCPDP SCRIPT (e-Rx) plus X12 271 eligibility and 277 claim-status transactionsImplement new SFTP connections on the existing FileMage instance running in GCP Compute Engine, routing incoming files to Cloud Storage buckets with checksum verification and lifecycle management in placeMap and transform patient, order, billing, and pharmacy data payloads; reconcile demographics across disparate identity sources to ensure deterministic record linkageImplementation Leadership
Drive discovery sessions, document technical requirements, and translate them into actionable Jira stories, milestones, and risks / blockersServe as the primary technical point of contact for hospital IT, third-party vendors, and Cinnamon’s product and support teamsCommunicate status, blockers, and launch readiness clearly to implementation teamsUnderstand customer systems and workflows thoroughly to independently configure, troubleshoot, and optimize integrationsCodify playbooks that shorten future implementation cyclesTroubleshooting & Continuous Improvement
Diagnose interface engine issues, data mismatches, and networking glitches; collaborate with internal engineering to drive rapid resolutionInstrument Cloud Logging metrics (latency, error rate) and route alerts to Email / SlackRecommend process automation, reusable templates, and best-practice playbooks to shorten future implementation cycles and improve customer satisfactionRequired Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field5+ years leading healthcare IT integrations or EHR implementations with hands-on HL7 messaging and X12 (ex. 271, 277, 278) plus NCPDP SCRIPT e-prescribing workflowsProficiency with at least one commercial interface / EDI engine (Corepoint, Rhapsody, etc)Solid grasp of networking fundamentals (VPNs, IPs, NATs) and secure file transportFamiliarity with RESTful APIs and modern healthcare standards such as FHIRStrong analytic, troubleshooting, and customer-facing communication skillsProven ability to independently analyze complex technical problems and implement effective solutions in healthcare IT environmentsPreferred Qualifications
Experience deploying cloud-based solutions on Google Cloud Platform or similarPrior use of Jira / Confluence (or similar Agile tooling) to manage technical deliverablesWorking knowledge of Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR) bulk-export, SMART-on-FHIR OAuth flows, and Epic / FHIR proxy patternsExperience automating deployments with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Cloud Build)Experience implementing monitoring / alerting stacks (Cloud Logging, Sentry, etc)Exposure to interface-engine migration projects (ex.
