Adjunct Faculty-Graduate Health Informatics

Franklin University, located in Columbus, Ohio,

is seeking part-time adjunct faculty to teach graduate level Health Informatics courses. Representative courses include Health Information Governance, Clinical Workflow and Applications, and Healthcare Analytics.

These 6-week courses will be taught face-to-face on our downtown campus each term beginning Summer 2024.

The Health Information Governance course covers the broad spectrum of strategic issues in healthcare including policies, guidelines, standards, processes, and controls required to manage and implement enterprise-level information.

Treating information as a strategic asset to healthcare organizcovers the broad spectrum of strategic issues in healthcare including policies, guidelines, standards, processes, and controls required to manage and implement enterprise-level information.

Treating information as a strategic asset to healthcare organizations, processes to manage various risks to the quality of information and ensure its appropriate use are covered.

Clinical Workflow and Applications explores requirements for clinical workflows in a variety of inpatient, outpatient, and emergency healthcare environments.

It covers the documentation, review, mapping, and diagramming of clinical workflow information and processes. The course also covers the linkages between the improvement of patient care to workflow mapping and change management, as part of evidence-based decision making in healthcare.

The Healthcare Analytics course addresses the process of retrieving, analyzing, and reporting intelligence to make healthcare decisions.

It covers the techniques of extracting, transforming, and loading data from a myriad of operational databases into corporate data warehouses, as well means to ensure that decision making is based on clean and reliable information.

The course also includes ways to report the healthcare intelligence gathered.

Requirements for these positions include a conferred doctoral degree in a healthcare related field. The candidate must have at least 18 graduate credit hours in Health Informatics / Health Information Management.

Excellent teaching evaluations and a minimum of 1 year of teaching experience at the graduate level are also required. The ideal candidate will have 1-3 years' experience teaching online at the graduate level, 3-5 years of experience managing enterprise-level information in a healthcare organization and credentials such as RHIA, CHDA, etc.
