- Full-time
Location: Downtown Los Angeles, CA — In Office
Employment Type: Full-Time
Compensation: $70,000–$90,000 annually, based on experience
About the Role
We are a fast-growing consumer goods and wholesale company based in Downtown Los Angeles seeking a sharp, highly organized Finance & Accounting Manager to own our day-to-day accounting and financial operations.
This is a hands-on role for someone who understands accounting fundamentals but also moves quickly, embraces technology, and enjoys solving problems.
You will manage the full cycle of accounts receivable and accounts payable, maintain accurate books and reconciliations, oversee company expenses and credit cards, and help management maintain a clear picture of cash flow and upcoming financial obligations.
You will work directly with company leadership and collaborate closely with our external CPA/CFO on financial reporting, month-end close, tax preparation, forecasting, and larger financial projects.
This is not a traditional data-entry bookkeeping position. We are looking for someone who understands how the numbers connect, notices when something doesn't make sense, and takes ownership of figuring it out.
What You'll Own
Accounts Receivable
- Manage AR from invoicing through collection and payment application
- Maintain accurate customer balances and AR aging
- Apply incoming wires, ACH payments, credit card payments, deposits, and credits
- Follow up on outstanding receivables and coordinate collections
- Research discrepancies between invoices, payments, credits, and internal records
- Keep management informed of expected collections and problem accounts
Accounts Payable
- Manage vendor bills from receipt through payment
- Maintain accurate vendor balances, deposits, credits, and payment records
- Schedule payments based on due dates, cash requirements, and management priorities
- Verify invoices and supporting documentation before payment
- Identify duplicate, incorrect, or unexpected charges
Accounting & Reconciliation
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in QuickBooks Online
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and payment processors
- Properly categorize transactions and expenses
- Manage company credit cards, receipts, and expense documentation
- Assist with month-end and year-end close
- Maintain organized supporting documentation and accounting records
- Identify and resolve discrepancies rather than allowing them to carry forward
Cash Flow & Financial Planning
- Maintain a rolling cash-flow forecast
- Track expected customer collections and upcoming vendor obligations
- Forecast weekly cash requirements
- Track major inventory purchases, deposits, payment terms, and other upcoming commitments
- Help management understand available cash versus committed cash
- Assist with planning the timing of significant payments and expenditures
- Prepare a concise weekly financial snapshot covering cash, AR, AP, upcoming obligations, and other key items requiring attention
CPA / CFO Collaboration
- Work closely with our external CPA/CFO
- Prepare schedules, reports, documentation, and reconciliations for monthly and year-end reporting
- Assist with tax preparation, 1099s, and other compliance requirements
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and larger financial projects
- Ensure outside accounting partners have clean, accurate, and timely information
Who We're Looking For
We are looking for someone who is smart, fast, detail-oriented, and highly accountable.
You should be comfortable working independently and taking a problem from identification through resolution. Our business moves quickly, and we need someone who can keep up without sacrificing accuracy.
The right person doesn't simply enter a transaction because that's what a document says. They ask questions when something looks wrong, understand how transactions affect the broader financial picture, and follow discrepancies until they are resolved.
You should also be technologically fluent and comfortable learning new systems quickly. We use multiple platforms across accounting, inventory, banking, payments, and internal operations, and we expect this person to become highly proficient in how those systems work together.
Qualifications
- 3–5 years of hands-on accounting, bookkeeping, or finance experience preferred
- Strong understanding of accounting fundamentals, including AR, AP, reconciliations, accruals, credits, deposits, and financial statements
- Strong QuickBooks Online experience
- Strong Excel and/or Google Sheets skills
- Experience managing bank and credit card reconciliations
- Experience preparing or maintaining cash-flow forecasts
- Comfortable working directly with CPAs, accountants, and senior management
- Excellent attention to detail and follow-through
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Ability to prioritize effectively in a fast-moving environment
- Comfortable learning and working across multiple software platforms
Experience in wholesale, distribution, e-commerce, apparel, consumer products, or another inventory-driven business is a strong plus.
A degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field is preferred, but demonstrated accounting knowledge, judgment, and ability are more important than credentials alone.
What Success Looks Like
Within the first few months, you should be able to independently manage the company's day-to-day accounting workflow, keep AR and AP accurate and current, maintain clean reconciliations, provide reliable cash-flow visibility, and quickly identify discrepancies before they become larger problems.
Leadership should be able to ask you where cash stands, what we expect to collect, what we need to pay, and what requires attention—and receive a clear, accurate answer.
The Environment
We are an entrepreneurial company with a lean team and a fast pace. This role will have significant responsibility and direct exposure to company leadership.
We value people who take ownership, communicate clearly, learn quickly, and look for ways to make processes better rather than simply maintaining the status quo.
This is a full-time, in-office position in Downtown Los Angeles.
