Position Overview
McGough is seeking MEP/CX field professionals to support our National Travel - Advanced Technology team delivering complex data center, mission-critical, and technically complex projects across the country.
This is a multi-level requisition for MEP/CX Assistant Superintendent and MEP/CX Superintendent opportunities. The appropriate level will be determined during the interview process based on experience, qualifications, demonstrated capabilities, and project needs, and will be disclosed at the time of offer.
Depending on level, this role will support or lead the planning, coordination, execution, and successful delivery of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, controls, and specialty building systems construction and commissioning. Responsibilities increase in scope, independence, technical leadership, and project ownership by level-from supporting assigned MEP/CX scopes and activities to leading MEP/CX execution and serving as a primary technical resource for the project team.
Both levels work closely with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, vendors, and internal project and operations teams to ensure engineered systems are delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project requirements while maintaining scope, schedule, budget, quality, and client expectations.
Qualifications
Required
MEP/CX Assistant Superintendent
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related engineering discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible experience in MEP engineering, design, facility management/operations, or construction management
- Basic understanding of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, fire protection, controls, and specialty building systems
- Basic understanding of the design, installation, and operation of engineered systems for mission-critical, educational, medical, laboratory, industrial, or similar projects
- Working knowledge of commercial building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, fire protection, and controls
- Ability to communicate effectively across multiple levels of an organization and convey technical topics to non-technical audiences
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to organize and manage multiple project tasks
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
MEP/CX Superintendent
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related engineering discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in MEP engineering, design, facility management/operations, or construction management
- Comprehensive knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, fire protection, controls, and specialty building systems
- Demonstrated expertise in the design, installation, operation, or construction management of engineered systems for complex projects such as mission-critical facilities, semiconductor fabrication plants, hospitals, pharmaceutical facilities, central power or cooling plants, water/wastewater facilities, advanced manufacturing, or similar technically complex projects
- Strong understanding of construction scheduling, procurement, commissioning, and project controls
- Ability to communicate effectively across multiple levels of an organization and convey technical topics to non-technical audiences
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple project tasks concurrently

Preferred
- Ability to navigate Revit and AutoCAD documents
- Experience with Procore, Bluebeam Revu, CXAlloy, Revizto, Primavera P6, or comparable construction technology
- Experience supporting Design-Build, CMAR, or Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) projects
- Current OSHA 30 certification
- Commissioning experience
- Certified Commissioning Professional (CCP) or similar industry certification, particularly at the Superintendent level
- Experience with Lean construction, Last Planner System, and continuous improvement

Responsibilities and Tasks
Responsibilities will vary by position level, with increasing ownership, independence, decision-making authority, technical leadership, and MEP/CX project responsibilities.
Preconstruction & MEP/CX Planning
- Support or lead MEP/CX preconstruction planning and coordination activities appropriate to position level
- Review and understand MEP drawings, specifications, design documents, and project requirements
- Assist in the creation, development, and management of Critical Path Method schedules and MEP/CX milestones
- Coordinate MEP/CX requirements with Project Management, field leadership, design teams, subcontractors, equipment vendors, and other project stakeholders
- Support or lead planning related to engineered systems installation, procurement, commissioning, energization, and turnover
- At the Superintendent level, manage MEP/CX preconstruction-related tasks and proactively identify project risks, constraints, and solutions
MEP/CX Field Operations & Coordination
- Support or lead the coordination and execution of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, controls, and specialty building systems
- Coordinate MEP/CX activities with McGough field staff, subcontractors, equipment vendors, suppliers, and project teams
- Participate in or lead daily huddles, weekly work planning, jobsite coordination, and material and equipment delivery planning
- Monitor installation progress and identify MEP/CX-related issues, constraints, and coordination needs
- At the Superintendent level, manage and oversee field staff, subcontractors, equipment vendors, and suppliers associated with MEP/CX scopes
- Walk the jobsite regularly to assess progress, quality, safety, coordination, and readiness of MEP/CX systems
Scheduling, Procurement & Project Controls
- Support, develop, and manage project schedules and MEP/CX milestones appropriate to position level
- Work closely with the project team to maintain current and accurate schedules and adjust plans as necessary
- Participate in the Last Planner System, weekly work planning, and other Lean construction activities
- Work with the project team to develop and track RFIs related to MEP/CX scopes
- Develop, coordinate, and track procurement of MEP equipment and materials
- Track project, subcontractor, and vendor goals and identify MEP/CX-related issues through resolution
- Monitor schedule, procurement, and project-control risks and proactively communicate potential impacts
- At the Superintendent level, lead MEP/CX scheduling, procurement strategy, coordination, and resolution of project constraints
Commissioning & Energization
- Support or lead commissioning activities for mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, controls, and specialty building systems
- Manage completion of Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 commissioning documentation
- Assist with Ready for Energization (RFE) reviews of equipment and systems
- Coordinate commissioning requirements with project teams, subcontractors, equipment vendors, commissioning providers, and other stakeholders
- Track commissioning issues and deficiencies through resolution
- Support system readiness, testing, turnover, and project handover activities
- At the Superintendent level, provide technical leadership throughout commissioning and help ensure engineered systems meet contract and project requirements
Safety & Quality
- Promote and maintain a strong safety culture throughout MEP/CX activities
- Lead or participate in job safety meetings, orientations, inspections, and other safety activities
- Ensure compliance with McGough, OSHA, and project-specific safety requirements
- Monitor MEP/CX installation quality and compliance with drawings, specifications, approved submittals, and project requirements
- Identify potential safety, quality, coordination, and constructability issues and work with project teams to develop solutions
- Support successful completion of inspections, testing, commissioning, punch list, and turnover activities
Project & Team Leadership
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, architects, engineers, consultants, subcontractors, vendors, and project partners
- Partner with Project Management and field leadership to drive successful project outcomes
- Communicate technical information effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Support and follow McGough standard work
- Participate in and support implementation of Lean and continuous improvement practices
- Foster strong partnerships across McGough project and field teams
- Mentor project engineers and junior staff as appropriate to position level
- At the Superintendent level, serve as a key MEP/CX technical resource for the project team, provide leadership to MEP/CX project participants, and support development of company standards and best practices
- At the Superintendent level, proactively identify project risks, develop solutions, and support strong client relationships through effective project delivery and service
Other Responsibilities
