Job description

A growing, industry-leading manufacturing company is seeking a Plant Controller to oversee the financial operations of its Springfield facility. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on accounting professional who enjoys manufacturing, wants to lead a small team, and is looking for long-term career advancement. This role offers significant growth opportunities within the larger corporate organization. The right individual will have the opportunity to advance beyond plant-level finance into broader corporate accounting and finance leadership roles.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a small plant accounting team while overseeing daily financial operations.
  • Manage month-end and year-end close, financial reporting, and general ledger activities.
  • Oversee standard costing, cost accounting, and manufacturing variance analysis.
  • Maintain and analyze bills of materials (BOMs), inventory valuations, and inventory controls.
  • Partner with plant leadership to analyze production costs, operational performance, and profitability.
  • Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, internal controls, and operational efficiencies.
  • Collaborate with corporate finance leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and strategic initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Strong manufacturing accounting experience, including standard costing, BOMs, and inventory analysis.
  • Experience managing the month-end close and financial reporting process.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to work closely with plant operations.
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
  • ERP experience required.

Why This Opportunity?

  • Career Advancement: Clear potential to grow into broader corporate finance and accounting leadership positions.
  • Leadership Opportunity: Manage a small team while making a meaningful impact on plant operations.
  • Corporate Exposure: Work closely with senior financial leadership within a larger organization.
  • Strong Culture: Collaborative environment that values initiative, professional development, and continuous improvement.
  • Long-Term Growth: Opportunity to build a career with the organization rather than remain in a Plant Controller position indefinitely.
