Neurosurgery Physician (Locum Tenens) – 24-Hour Call Coverage in Santa Rosa, CA
We are seeking an experienced Neurosurgery Physician or Neurosurgeon for a locum tenens opportunity providing inpatient 24-hour beeper call coverage in Santa Rosa, California. Support a Level III trauma facility in a scenic Northern California community known for its welcoming atmosphere, wine country surroundings, and access to outdoor recreation. The provider is not required to remain onsite while on beeper call.
Locum Tenens Neurosurgery Job Details
- Location: Santa Rosa, California
- Opportunity Type: Locum tenens, per diem neurosurgery call coverage
- Healthcare Setting: Inpatient neurosurgery and Level III trauma coverage
- Coverage Schedule: 24-hour beeper call, 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 a.m.
- Shift Duration: 12-hour day schedule designation; coverage is structured as 24-hour beeper call
- Initial Dates of Need: January 29–31 and February 26–28, with coverage ending at 7:30 a.m. following each call period
- Start Date: January 2027
- Patient Volume: Approximately 2–15 patient encounters per shift
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $10,550–$11,300
Neurosurgery Physician Job Requirements
- Physician with a minimum of 2 years of current hospital-based clinical activity in neurosurgery
- Active California physician license
- Active DEA registration
- Board certification or board eligibility within 3–5 years of residency, consistent with credentialing requirements
- Current CV including all hospital affiliations
- Current surgical case logs submitted during presentation
- Active or temporary fluoroscopy certification
- Recent experience with adult general neurosurgery and trauma care
- Ability to explain any clinical employment gaps greater than 3 months
Locum Tenens Neurosurgeon Responsibilities
- Provide 24-hour beeper call coverage for inpatient neurosurgical patients
- Evaluate and manage neurosurgical consultations and acute patient needs
- Provide clinical care for adult general neurosurgery and trauma cases
- Manage patients requiring tumor procedures, VP shunts, and intracranial pressure monitoring
- Perform spinal surgery with and without instrumentation, including cervical, thoracic, and lumbar procedures
- Apply external traction when clinically indicated
- Respond to call-back needs and coordinate appropriate treatment plans
- Collaborate with hospital-based clinical teams to support safe, timely patient care
