Position Summary Aspen Publishing is seeking a Digital Content Systems Manager to be a part of a growing company. This role is open to Boston-based candidates to work in our Burlington, MA office on a hybrid office / work-from-home schedule. This role will be instrumental in managing vendor relationships, internal consulting workflows, and cross-functional solutions engineering for editorial and metadata systems. A Digital Content Systems Manager who can take our digital products to the next level is needed.
Location Burlington, MA (hybrid : in-office and remote)
Key Responsibilities Vendor Oversight : Serve as the primary point of contact for outsourced product; oversee accountability and support timely resolution of issues impacting content conversion (CC) workflows; establish performance metrics and escalation protocols to ensure timely issue resolution and service quality.
Internal Consulting Insourcing : Take ownership of consulting work currently outsourced; collaborate with internal stakeholders to gradually reduce reliance on external consulting while maintaining platform-level support where needed; translate business needs into technical requirements and deliverables; provide hands-on support and strategic guidance for metadata transformation, content structuring, and workflow optimization.
Solutions Support – Editorial & Metadata Systems : Act as a business analyst and solutions engineer for editorial and metadata teams; support integrations with internal systems and external platforms via APIs and automation; lead integration and enhancement efforts for platforms such as Firebrand and other CMS tools; collaborate with stakeholders to define requirements, design workflows, and implement scalable solutions.
Other Duties : Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Bachelor’s degree plus 5+ years of experience in Digital Asset management (DAM) systems, preferably in educational technology, higher education, high-stakes testing, or online learning.
Familiarity with ONIX metadata standards and publishing supply chain tools.
Experience with API-driven integrations and workflow automation.
Agile project management experience.
Proven ability to manage multiple projects under strict deadlines.
Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to work with individuals at all levels and interact with technical and business staff, customers, and partners.
Vendor management and troubleshooting / problem-solving expertise.
Willingness to travel domestically occasionally.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong organization, planning, and presentation skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel, Word).
Ability to work quickly and accurately in a fast-paced, changing environment.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical Requirements Normal office environment.
Ability to sit for extended periods of time; work on computer for extended periods of time; listen and speak clearly while interacting with others; lift up to 10 pounds occasionally.
