Job Summary :

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Med Surg / Telemetry RN to provide direct patient care in a fast-paced medical-surgical telemetry unit. The ideal candidate will possess strong post-surgical competencies, be comfortable with a 1 : 6 nurse-to-patient ratio, and be able to float to Med-Surg, ICU, and ED as needed.

Key Responsibilities :

Perform patient assessments and monitor telemetry (remote cardiac monitoring).

Manage complex post-surgical care and interventions.

Administer medications including blood products, heparin, insulin, and PCA management.

Provide colostomy care, feeding tube management, and wound care, including Wound Vac.

Manage peripheral lines, PICC lines, and access ports safely.

Perform IV starts and manage pre- / post hemodialysis patient care.

Provide respiratory care, including tracheostomy management, oral suctioning, HFNC, nasal cannula, oxygen face masks, and portable oxygen tanks.

Manage surgical drains and chest tubes (Emerson / Pleur-evac).

Implement isolation precautions effectively.

Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and document all care in the EMR.

Float to Med Surg, ICU, and ED as needed for patient care support.

Requirements :

BLS (AHA) and NIH Stroke Scale certification required.

Minimum 1.5 years of recent Med Surg or PCU experience.

Comfortable with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1 : 6.

Strong competencies in post-surgical care.

Ability to float between Med Surg, ICU, and ED as needed.

Must be available for the first 8 days of the assignment.

Willingness to work every other weekend and holidays as needed (No holiday requests; dates to be discussed with manager based on unit needs).

No call requirement.

Holiday RTO : No holiday requests allowed; dates may be discussed with the manager to determine unit accommodation.

Call : None.

Weekend : Every other weekend required.

Float : To Med Surg, ICU, and ED as needed.
