Payroll & Benefits Manager
Our client is a well-known food retailer with multiple stores in the U.S. They're looking for a Payroll & Benefits Manager to join their HR team out of the Manhattan corporate office. As the Payroll & Benefits Manager, you'll take ownership of payroll and benefits operations, ensuring every paycheck is accurate and every program runs smoothly. You'll be the go-to resource for employees with payroll or benefits questions, while also partnering with HR and Finance to streamline processes, improve systems, and deliver a seamless employee experience. This role is perfect for someone who's detail-oriented, thrives on accuracy, and loves creating clarity in complex processes. You'll oversee full-cycle payroll processing, manage employee benefits from health and retirement plans to leave policies, and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. On the benefits side, you'll negotiate with third-party vendors, oversee 401(k) and retirement plans, support open enrollment, manage leave and workers' comp, and serve as the primary point of contact for employees. You'll also partner on compensation initiatives such as salary surveys.
Candidates MUST have experience running full-cycle, multi-state payroll using ADP. Payroll and benefits experience in retail is highly preferred. This role reports to the corporate office five days a week.
Manage end-to-end payroll processing through ADP, including multi-state payroll and compliance.
Oversee payroll tax filings, W-2s, 401(k) reporting, and quarterly and annual reporting.
Serve as the primary point of contact for employees regarding payroll and benefits questions.
Administer benefits programs including health, dental, vision, life insurance, 401(k) / retirement, leave management, and worker's compensation.
Lead open enrollment processes.
Negotiate contracts and manage relationships with third-party benefits providers.
Support compensation initiatives, including salary surveys and ensuring compliance with wage and labor laws.

Strong hands-on experience with ADP.
Multi-state payroll experience.
Proven background managing payroll operations, including minimum wage, overtime, and labor law requirements.
Experience administering benefits programs such as health, dental, vision, 401(k), retirement, leave management, workers' comp, and life insurance.
Knowledge of payroll taxes and reporting requirements.
Skilled at negotiating and managing third-party vendor contracts.
$100k-$120k base salary depending on experience.
