What does a Senior HR Generalis do?

The Senior Human Resource Generalist is a vital position at Butterfield Trail Village, serving as a key collaborator with leadership and staff across all departments. This role ensures that human resource practices meet both legal requirements and the organizational goals of our non-profit healthcare environment. Responsibilities include benefit administration, policy and compliance management, performance management, employee relations, and recruiting.

The Senior HR Generalist will play an essential role in hiring, training, and developing employees, providing leaders and staff with the guidance and support necessary for operational efficiency. This fast-paced position requires strong leadership skills, a strategic mindset, and a genuine passion for delivering impactful HR solutions. By fostering a customer-centric approach, you will help shape a high-performance culture that aligns with our commitment to excellence and integrity.

What you need to be successful

To excel as a Senior Human Resource Generalist at Butterfield Trail Village, candidates must possess a blend of essential skills and experience. Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills are critical for fostering relationships across departments. Proficiency in HR tools and software, such as Paycor, will facilitate efficient workflow and data management. An analytical mindset is necessary to interpret data effectively and adjust strategies accordingly.

Candidates should have up-to-date knowledge of employment laws and best practices, coupled with exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills to drive results. Effective conflict resolution skills and the ability to negotiate are vital to maintaining a harmonious workplace, alongside the flexibility to adapt to changing priorities. A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or equivalent experience is required, with a preference for candidates holding a Master’s degree. With 5-8 years of proven HR experience, including 5 years in a Generalist role, potential hires should also have experience in mentoring and coaching, ideally within a healthcare environment.

Professional certifications such as PHR or SHRM-CP are preferred.
