Spanish Interpreter
Interpreter Spanish / English Local health organization is looking for a Spanish / English Interpreter . The Spanish / English Interpreter will be responsible for direct interpretation in all clinic program areas, translation of written materials, and coordination of other interpreting needs.
Pay : $16.61 / hour; $17.61 / hour if certified as a medical interpreter but can go up based on previous experience and longevity at previous employers.
Hours : M, T, TH, F 8 : 30am-5pmW 8 : 30am 8pm
Interpreter Job Responsibilities :
- Provide direct interpretation as needed in various areas of the clinic
- Coordinate additional interpreting services as needed
- Assist provider and patients with cross-cultural / cultural sensitivity awareness
- Translate written materials
- Assist in development and implementation of formal relationships with community organizations to coordinate services
- Participate in workshops and training meeting to further knowledge and skills
Interpreter Job Requirements :
- Excellent bilingual (English and Spanish) written and verbal communication skills
- Medical terminology
- Possess strong customer service skills
- Ability to memorize multiple phrases at a time while provider or patient are speaking to interpret exactly what is being said
- Translate written text from English to Spanish and from Spanish to English
- Previous interpreting experience preferred, particularly in a health care setting
- Computer skills : MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Ability to work with minimum / no supervision
Interpreter Education Requirements :
- High School diploma or equivalent required
- Prefer completion of Bridging the Gap Interpreting training course or equivalent
