Veterinary Assistant Internal Medicine Advanced Veterinary Specialists
Compensation range : $18.00 - $26.00 hr. primarily determined by role and experience level.
Advanced Veterinary Specialists, located in scenic Santa Barbara, is a premier specialty and emergency veterinary hospital committed to providing exceptional care to pets in need. We offer a range of specialized services, including internal medicine, surgery, cardiology, oncology, and emergency care, delivered by a team of dedicated professionals. We are currently seeking a Veterinary Assistant to join our Internal Medicine team. The successful candidate will work closely with our board-certified Internists to provide high-quality care to patients with complex medical conditions.
As a Veterinary Assistant in the Internal Medicine department, you will be responsible for the following duties :
- Provide compassionate care and monitoring for animals admitted to the internal medicine department
- Assist with a variety of diagnostic procedures
- Communicate effectively with pet owners, offering guidance on their animal's condition and treatment options.
- Maintain accurate medical records and ensure equipment is properly maintained and sterilized.
- Assist veterinarians during procedures such as biopsies and aspiration cytology.
- Collaborate closely with other veterinary professionals to provide comprehensive patient care.
- Advocate for the well-being of patients, ensuring they receive appropriate care and treatment.
- Other duties as assigned.

Work schedule :
4 / 10 work week, Friday & Saturday + 2 additional rotating days a weekWeekend and holiday flexibility required.Basic required qualifications :
General understanding and experience with small animal restraint with a focus on cats and dogsHigh school diplomaCalm, professional demeanor.Strong communication and interpersonal skills.Reliable time management and problem-solving skills; working efficiently and effectively throughout the hospital.Multi-task various duties and responsibilities in a timely and reliable manner, with appropriate follow-through and accuracy.Understand and follow established hospital processes and procedures (i.e. SOPs)Able to work well independently as well as with a team.Basic understanding of veterinary medical terminology.Preferred qualifications :
