Technology Coordinator
The Technology Coordinator reports to the Director of Technology and provides information technology services, training and support across the various school campuses, also acting as the service representative for the computer / printer / phone / AV equipment and LAN, software and hardware for Lyce Franais de la Nouvelle-Orlans.
This position will also be expected to function in the capacity of Director of Technology in his / her absence.
Roles and Responsibilities
The duties of the Technology Coordinator include, but are not limited to the following tasks :
Hardware / Software Service Supervisor
- Troubleshooting IT equipment as needed
- Inventorying and maintaining IT equipment as needed
- Providing desktop support for teachers and staff members on all campuses
- Handling all printing technical support
- Performing all computer equipment hardware and software maintenance
- Ensuring correct server setup and storage
- Serving as AV and sound technician to support school functions
- Responding to trouble tickets in a timely manner.
Educational Technology Management
- Providing support for integrating technology into classroom instruction and other enrichment activities
- Providing support in using online instructional resources such as instructional and testing websites and subscription services
Training and Inventory Management
- Preparing, inventorying, and monitoring laptops and other hardware lent to students, teachers and / or staff members.
- Coordinate Asset distribution for Students and Staff
- Preparing, inventorying, and monitoring software, subscriptions and licenses purchased by the school.
- Developing, planning, and providing training to staff and teachers throughout the school year.
Security
- Ensuring safety of school data and systems
- Maintaining security operations and back-up processes.
- Performing regular software updates and scanning of computers, servers and the network.
- Reviewing server, network and security logs.
Other Duties as Assigned
The Technology Coordinator will serve on appropriate committees, attend meetings, and prepare reports as requested by the Director of Technology.
The Technology Coordinator will be expected to be on call and may be required to work on weekends or on occasion for school events outside of school hours.
Requirements
Expectations, Educational Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field or in the process of acquiring, or equivalent years of experience
- Experience assisting users with software and hardware problems.
- Demonstrated experience installing and configuring Microsoft Windows on desktops and laptops, or Mac OSX on laptops.
- Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office productivity software, especially Word, Powerpoint and Excel.
- Demonstrated experience with Google Suite services, especially Drive, GMail, Calendar and Groups.
- Familiarity with configuring and troubleshooting TCP / IP networking (IP addresses, DNS) on Windows and Mac.
- Familiarity with configuring and troubleshooting WiFi networking connections.
- Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality.
- Ability to respond to unanticipated changes in priorities.
- Ability to prioritize their own work in close coordination with supervisor, multitask, and respond to urgent technology requests in a fast paced environment.
- Ability to move and lift computer equipment of up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to climb ladders and work underneath furniture to check equipment, network wiring and power plugs.
- Ability to train teachers and staff in basic educational hardware and software
- Ability to train teachers and staff in basic troubleshooting and computer literacy
- Possession or acquisition of an industry certification (such as the CompTIA A+ or greater).
- Must obtain certification within 24 months of accepting the position.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with configuring and maintaining network equipment such as switches, routers, and firewalls
- Familiarity with Google Suite for Education administration and setup
- Familiarity with hard drive imaging and cloning
- Working knowledge of K-12 curriculum and the alignment of technology
- Working knowledge of French
