Summary :

The Communications Manager will be responsible for execution of strategic communicationsboth internally generated and created in conjunction with outside agency vendorswith a focus on increasing awareness of Green Plains' transformation into an ag tech powerhouse and our positive benefits to the environment, our communities, our employees and the economy.

Essential Functions include but are not limited to :

  • Oversees the use of public relations agencies and vendors to initiate and execute on projects, including news releases, press conferences, customer events where media are involved and media outreach
  • Manages, updates content and oversees creation of new content for various company online properties including websites and company intranet
  • Collaborates with Investor Relations on press releases, presentations and the completion of Green Plains Inc. Annual Report
  • Coordinate and attend industry conferences as needed
  • Create internal and external online and print communication campaigns.
  • Manage community relations and coordinate charitable giving opportunities
  • Manage miscellaneous employee communication as needed
  • Work with Investor Relations and Government Affairs to ensure external messaging is aligned and in compliance with state and federal law at all times
  • Partner with Talent Acquisition to develop promotional candidate content
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's Degree in Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, Communications or related area required
  • Minimum 5 years experience in public relations / affairs in a corporate / media / agency setting required
  • Must be a self-starter with a keen attention to detail and deadlines as well as ability to multi-task
  • Experience in personnel management is preferred
  • Demonstrated experience communicating with contacts in media outlets and editors
  • Ability to travel up to 25%
  • Exceptional creative writing ability
  • Well-versed in writing for social media / digital platforms and blogs
  • Experience drafting strategic, integrated communication plans
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills; with the ability to interface with all levels of the organization including Senior Management and the Board of Directors
  • Strong project management and organizational skills

Work Environment / Physical Demands :

  • Valid driver's license and able to travel
  • Ability to meet physical demands of the job includes but is not limited to : frequent sitting, standing, frequent computer use;

some lifting or moving up to 20 lbs.

Ability to work after hours / weekends and on call as needed
