About the Company

We are looking for a CS Automation Engineer for a global leader in the design and manufacturing of advanced packaging machinery for the pharmaceutical, biotech, and cosmetic industries. With a strong international presence, we are now entering an exciting new phase of expansion in the U.S. market. This role will have high visibility and offers strong growth opportunities as part of the creation of a new U.S. team.

Mission of the Role

The CS Automation Engineer will be responsible for programming and commissioning retrofits of already installed machines, as well as troubleshooting and resolving technical issues at customer sites. This role requires solid expertise in motion systems (machines in movement) and, ideally, experience in the packaging industry .

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide remote and on-site support to field technicians and customers, resolving incidents with installed machines.
  • Participate in the development and execution of new projects and retrofits.
  • Analyze project requirements and propose technical solutions.
  • Support the design of electrical and pneumatic systems.
  • Configure and program servo motors and PLC-based control systems.
  • Program, commission, and validate assigned automation projects.
  • Manage and document incidents, ensuring timely resolution and follow-up.
  • Prepare reports on installations, modifications, training, and open issues.
  • Act as the technical liaison with customers to address programming-related requests.
  • Participate in the department's 24 / 7 support rotation.
  • Ensure compliance with company quality procedures, safety standards, and continuous improvement practices.

Requirements

  • Education : Degree in Electronic Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering (specializing in electronics), or equivalent technical qualification (e.g., Higher Vocational Training in Electronics).
  • Experience : Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in automation engineering roles, with strong exposure to motion control systems and turnkey projects . Experience in packaging machinery is highly preferred.
  • Technical Skills :
  • Allen Bradley / Rockwell expertise (required).
  • Siemens platform knowledge (a strong plus).
  • PLC programming (RS Logix 5000, TIA Portal, Simotion Scout, B&R Studio).
  • HMI / SCADA tools (FactoryTalk, Intouch, Indusoft, Zenon).
  • Strong troubleshooting and commissioning skills.
  • Languages : English required; Spanish is a plus but not mandatory.
  • Mobility : Willingness to travel occasionally (approx. 20%).
  • Training : Initial 1-2 months training in Granollers, Spain, with additional remote support.
  • Personal Profile

  • Autonomous, structured, and proactive.
  • Strong interpersonal and client-facing skills.
  • Team-oriented with the ability to work independently.
  • Global project vision and problem-solving mindset.
  • Represents company values professionally with clients.
  • This is a unique opportunity to grow your career, gain visibility, and play a key role in building a new U.S. subsidiary for a globally recognized company.

In this role, we are looking for PLC programmers who have strong troubleshooting experience rather than building projects from scratch .

Most of the time, your responsibilities will involve :

  • Diagnosing issues in existing machines.
  • Reading and understanding PLC programs already in place.
  • Identifying errors in code, sensors, drives, or wiring.
  • Making quick corrections to bring equipment back online.
  • Providing technical support in the field.
  • In short : we need "automation firefighters" 🔧🔥 - engineers who can solve problems fast and keep systems running smoothly, more than system architects starting from zero.
