Job description

At Riot Games, we believe being a player doesn’t stop when the game ends, it’s the gateway to deeper storytelling, emotional connection, and lasting fandom. Teamfight Tactics (TFT) is Riot’s leading strategy game, known for its playful tone, ever-evolving worlds, and creative expression. With a highly engaged global audience and regular set launches, TFT represents a unique opportunity to grow a gaming franchise through bold marketing and fresh ideas.

We’re looking for a Director of Marketing Creative Direction to lead the creative marketing vision and execution for TFT. You will shape and scale how TFT shows up in the world, crafting unforgettable campaigns, building a world-class internal creative team, and delivering bold, culture-driving work across animation, video, digital, and experiential platforms. This role reports to the VP of Marketing and works in close partnership with TFT’s publishing lead, Sr. Director of Publishing Product Management , maintaining a strong dotted-line relationship to ensure creative strategy is aligned with broader publishing goals.

This is a pivotal role for elevating TFT from a hit game into a standalone franchise that defines strategy, spectacle, and storytelling for a global player base.

Key Responsibilities : Creative Leadership Define the franchise’s global creative vision , ensuring every campaign and asset reflects TFT’s distinct personality and player appeal.

Establish the look, feel, and tone of TFT marketing across key formats : trailers, animated shorts, key art, social content, events, and more.

Ensure creative consistency and excellence across global campaigns while allowing space for regional innovation and cultural adaptation.

Campaign Execution & Direction Lead the end-to-end development of marketing campaigns for new TFT sets, events, collaborations, and brand activations .

Direct animation and video partners (internal and external) in crafting narrative-driven content, trailers, and shorts that elevate TFT’s visual storytelling.

Partner with product, publishing, esports, and creative teams to align campaign work with product timing, player insights, and business goals.

Team Building & Collaboration Build and manage a high-performing internal creative team , including creative directors, designers, writers, art directors, and video creatives.

Develop and maintain a network of trusted creative agencies and production partners to scale output as needed.

Champion creative collaboration across Riot teams and publishing partners, ensuring product, brand, and campaign work are integrated and player-centric.

Leadership & Strategic Influence Demonstrate strong executive presence in a matrixed, cross-functional environment.

Influence senior stakeholders across product, publishing, and creative teams to align creative direction with business priorities.

Represent TFT creative marketing in executive forums and provide strategic POVs that inform franchise-level decisions.

Strategic & Franchise Stewardship Own the creative marketing roadmap and influence the long-term evolution of the TFT franchise from a global brand lens.

Collaborate with regional publishing leads to deliver marketing moments that resonate with local audiences while upholding global brand standards.

Leverage campaign insights, performance data, and player feedback to continuously improve storytelling and impact .

Required Qualifications : 10+ years of experience leading successful creative marketing work in games, entertainment, or creative agencies.

10+ years of experience directing external video and animation partners , including trailers, shorts, and cinematic marketing content.

Track record of delivering world-class campaigns across multiple channels; social, experiential, influencer, digital, and broadcast.

Strong leadership experience managing internal creative teams and fostering career development.

Demonstrated success operating at senior leadership levels, influencing across disciplines and geographies to drive creative strategy and decision-making in a matrixed environment

Portfolio that shows visionary storytelling , brand development, and marketing craft that drives player engagement and cultural relevance.

Deep knowledge of gaming, entertainment, and digital fandom culture .

Excellent collaboration skills and experience working with cross-functional teams (product, publishing, creative, etc.).

Demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex projects and campaigns simultaneously.

Desired Qualifications : Bachelor's degree in a related field (Marketing, Creative, Communications, Design) or equivalent experience.

Deep hands-on experience in video and animation production , with strong instincts for craft, feedback, and narrative pacing.

Experience marketing live-service games , seasonal content, or multi-phase IP campaigns.

Familiarity with TFT and the auto-battler genre, or personal passion for the franchise.

This is a rare opportunity to own the creative voice of a globally recognized franchise and shape the future of TFT’s storytelling and brand presence. If you’re passionate about world-class marketing, game fandom, and creative leadership; this is your moment.

For this role, you\'ll find success through craft expertise, a collaborative spirit, and decision-making that prioritizes the delight of players. We will be looking at your past studies, experience, and your personal relationship with games. If you embody player empathy and care about players' experiences, this could be your role!

Our Perks : Riot focuses on work / life balance, shown by our open paid time off policy and other perks such as flexible work schedules. We offer medical, dental, and life insurance, parental leave for you, your spouse / domestic partner, and children, and a 401k with company match. Check out our benefits pages for more information.

At Riot Games, we put players first . That mission drives every decision in our quest to create games and experiences that make it better to be a player. Whether you’re working directly on a new player-facing experience or you’re supporting the company as a whole, everyone at Riot is part of our mission. And just like in our games, we’re better when we work together. Our goal is to create collaborative teams where you are empowered to bring your unique perspective everyday. If that sounds like the kind of place you want to work, we’re looking forward to your application.
