Position Summary
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) plays a pivotal role in ensuring the financial health and sustainability of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Central Florida (BGCCF), empowering the organization to serve youth in the Central Florida community for years to come. As a key member of the executive team, the CFO provides strategic financial leadership, drives impactful initiatives, and maintains the integrity of financial operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish and implement financial policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with GAAP.
- Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with senior management and advise the CEO and Finance Committee on financial matters and strategic initiatives.
- Develop and execute financial strategies aligned with BGCCF’s mission and goals.
- Lead the annual budgeting process, including revenue forecasting and expense management.
- Analyze financial performance and present insights to the CEO and Board of Directors.
- Conduct financial modeling and scenario analysis for strategic projects and initiatives.
- Develop performance indicators and measurement systems for tracking strategic plan objectives.
- Oversee accounting, tax planning, treasury management, and internal controls to ensure compliance and financial stability.
- Manage cash flow, investments, and financing activities.
- Identify opportunities for improved financial operations and collaborate with external CPA firms on 990 schedules and audit findings.
- Maintain relationships with auditors, bankers, investment counselors, attorneys, and other professional advisors.
- Oversee the operations of accounting / finance, billing, and payroll departments.
- Prepare and submit New Market Tax Credit compliance reports and manage quarterly draws.
- Ensure timely insurance policy renewal with sufficient coverage to manage the organization’s risk exposure.
- Monitor monthly financial operations, prepare analyses and reports, and provide guidance to staff.
- Assist operations with finance strategies and critical measurements.
- Develop and oversee internal control systems and performance indicators.
- Manage assets and investments, including real property, equities, fixed‑income securities, and other assets, ensuring strategic allocation of resources.
- Develop and maintain a system for cash management, including short and long‑term projection, collection, and distribution of cash.
- Work directly with board committees (Finance, Insurance, Investment, Audit) to build volunteer relationships, develop policies, monitor implementation, and meet board needs.
- Oversee the development and management of the annual operating budget.
- Collaborate with HR to budget and administer employee benefit programs.
- Maintain records and ensure timely transaction reporting.
- Support fundraising efforts and represent BGCCF at meetings and conferences.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and legal requirements.
- Manage investments and oversee financial reporting to BGCA and government agencies.
- Work with the CEO and board members to recognize and develop relationships to advance BGCCF.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and GAAP.
- Identify and mitigate financial risks through effective risk management strategies.
- Oversee annual audits and maintain financial records.
- Implement efficient financial systems and software to streamline processes and enhance data accuracy.
- Oversee BGCCF’s Director of Technology and manage the relationship with an outsourced Managed Service Provider (MSP).
- Collaborate with the IT Director to set strategic vision for IT project initiatives, establish internal controls around IT infrastructure, and oversee cybersecurity training.
- Regularly assess IT equipment and system upgrades as required.
- Oversee work performed by outsourced IT consultants to ensure user tickets are addressed timely.
Qualification Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience); CPA certification is a plus.Minimum 10 years of progressively responsible financial management experience.At least five years in a senior financial leadership role, preferably within a non‑profit organization.Thorough knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, and compliance standards.Strong financial acumen and analytical skills to navigate complex financial challenges and opportunities.Proficiency in financial systems, ERP software, and data analytics tools.Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.Demonstrated ability to lead, direct, and coordinate operations in personnel supervision, recruitment and retention, facilities management, and budget management.Proven track record of strategic planning, financial leadership, and driving financial performance.Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels.Strong presentation and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross‑functional teams and executives.Strong organizational, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.Ability to handle multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines in a dynamic business environment.Strategic thinking and a forward‑looking approach to financial management.Highly motivated self‑starter capable of being a strategic business partner to the CEO and other senior leaders.Competencies

Supervise, hire, train, manage, and mentor staff.Maintain close contact with Club staff, members, and supervisors for information exchange and guidance.Maintain contact with external stakeholders (members, families, alumni, community leaders, vendors, CPA firms, financial institutions, etc.) to advance program goals and manage costs.Environment and Working Conditions
Work in indoor and outdoor office / club settings; may involve varying weather conditions.Operate a motor vehicle.Work with children and families; uphold a child‑friendly environment.Adapt to a dynamic schedule, including evenings for club activities.Perform physical tasks up to 30 lbs, stand / sit / walk extended periods, bend, reach.Use computers and office equipment for extended periods (8+ hours).Visual and auditory acuity required for monitoring safety standards.Handle multiple tasks simultaneously with focus and resilience.Strong interpersonal skills for interaction with children, families, and staff.Occasional exposure to outdoor weather conditions.Compliance Requirements
