Base pay range

$135,000.00 / yr - $150,000.00 / yr

Accountants One has been hired by a highly successful real estate private equity investment firm to find a Director of Accounting to join their team. The company, based in Birmingham, has been in business for 16 years.

Their primary focus is on retail, mixed‑use & vertical self storage, providing best‑in‑class underwriting, market analysis & void analysis, acquisition, development, repositioning, construction management, leasing, property management, & financial reporting, as well as complex debt and equity restructuring services. The role is open due to organizational growth!

This position will oversee financial & accounting operations, real‑estate investments & capital‑raising activities, including accounting functions, financial reporting, tax compliance, & budget management.

Qualifications :

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A CPA or CFA is a plus.
• Extensive experience (3‑5+ years) in real‑estate finance, private equity, or a similar industry.
• Solid understanding of real accounting principles, financial analysis, & reporting standards (GAAP, IFRS).
• Strong knowledge of real‑estate investment structures, including partnerships, joint ventures, & fund structures.
• Experience with real‑estate financial modeling, valuations, & performance metrics.
• Proficient in financial management software & systems (Yardi, MRI, Excel).
• Excellent analytical skills, problem‑solving, & decision‑making skills.
• Strong attention to detail & ability to work in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment.
• Effective communication & interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate & influence stakeholders at all levels.
• Leadership abilities with a track record of managing & developing high‑performance finance teams.
