Position Summary :
The Maintenance Team Lead oversees all maintenance operations in our refrigerated salad processing facility, ensuring equipment reliability, food safety compliance, and a safe working environment. This role leads a team of maintenance technicians, managing daily priorities, emergency repairs, work schedules, and timecards, while supporting planned maintenance activities and proper CMMS usage. The position also partners with the Maintenance Planner on scheduling, coordinates parts procurement with the buyer, and ensures all work meets quality and documentation standards.
Key Responsibilities :
- Assist the Maintenance Planner with scheduling preventive and corrective maintenance.
- Coordinate planned maintenance activities in the shop and production areas.
- Maintain long-range maintenance and capital project calendars.
- Expedite safety-critical maintenance work and track schedule compliance metrics.
Leadership & Supervision
Lead and supervise maintenance technicians in daily activities.Assign and prioritize emergency / urgent work in designated areas.Manage timecards, attendance, and performance reviews (mid-year and annual).Balance workloads and allocate resources effectively.Ensure upcoming work orders are prepared and resourced.Planning & Coordination
Assist the Maintenance Planner with scheduling preventive and corrective maintenance.Coordinate planned maintenance activities in the shop and production areas.Maintain long-range maintenance and capital project calendars.Expedite safety-critical maintenance work and track schedule compliance metrics.Equipment Maintenance & Documentation
Request quotes and coordinate part orders with the maintenance buyer.Oversee maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment, including : Produce washing systems, Spin dryers (electric / hydraulic), Hayssen baggers, Ishida and Yamato combination scales, Proseal sealing equipment, Other processing, packaging, and conveying systemsEnsure work meets quality, sanitation, and safety standards.Review completed work orders for accuracy, comments, labor hours, and closing codes.Ensure complete CMMS records, including job history, parts usage, and task completion.What you will Need :
Bachelor’s degree preferred; GED / High School Diploma required.Minimum 3-5 years related experience.Requires advanced technical and working knowledge in maintaining Production line equipmentMust have supervision techniques, planning and scheduling of maintenance work and work prioritizationKnowledgeable in preventive maintenance techniques and ability to develop preventive maintenance programs form vendor manualsKnowledge of operating budgets and analyzing and forecasting variancesKnowledge of personal computer spreadsheet software and programsMust have working knowledge of electrical power distribution and be able to read basic electrical diagrams, basic instrumentation and Programmable controller (PLC) programming, mechanical and hydraulic systems as well as 480 volt electrical safety practicesMust be able to troubleshoot problems on production line equipmentKnowledge in ammonia refrigeration systems, lubrication requirements, and water treatment methodsMust be knowledgeable in equipment safety requirements as they apply to equipment moving and installation.Must be knowledgeable in Welding safety practices and Hot-work Permit requirements.Must be knowledgeable in forklift and scissor lift safety.Must be cross trained in the various functions of the Quality Assurance department and must be knowledgeable on the QA standard operating procedures.Must be able to safely operate shop equipment such as grinders, cut-off saws, power tools, ladders etc.Must be knowledgeable in equipment Lock-Out / Tag-Out requirements.Must use Slip-resistant footwear due to the nature of environment : Wet floors, cold and probably some icing / debris.Must be knowledgeable in the proper use of portable fire extinguishers.Must be knowledgeable in Chemical handling procedures. Must have working knowledge of OSHA, FDA and GMP requirements as they pertain to maintenance activities at a food processing facilityAbility to work well in a team environment and collaborate up and down the organizationMust have knowledge of food safety programs (HACCP, GMPs, Sanitation, Pest Control, Safe Quality Food (SQF), and Organic Guidelines.Related Success Metrics :
TCIROEEOvertime %PMsDowntimePhysical Work Environment : While performing the duties of this job, this position entails use of ladders and catwalks to reach production equipment, regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is regularly exposed to extreme cold for extended periods of time. The associate frequently works in high, precarious places. The associate is occasionally exposed to wet and / or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
