LOCATION: Pittsburgh, PA (3-4 days a week)
PAY RANGE: $30-$35 /hourly (W2) DOE
CONTRACT DURATION: 6 months to start
OVERVIEW:
As the Lead for Analytics & BI, you will be a key expert responsible for designing, building, and delivering insightful data solutions. You will translate complex business requirements into effective and scalable analytics and BI platforms. This role requires strong technical skills in data preparation, modeling, and visualization to build the data tools and reports that drive our decision-making capabilities. You will work hands-on with data and modern technologies to create solutions that deliver tangible insights across merchandising, planning, and finance.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Solution Design: Lead the design of our core analytics platforms, defining data models, data flows, and the overall structure of our BI solutions to meet business objectives.
End-to-End Development: Lead the hands-on development, implementation, and maintenance of analytics solutions, from data preparation to the creation of advanced reports and interactive dashboards.
Project Leadership: Manage data and analytics projects from start to finish, translating business needs into technical tasks and ensuring the team delivers high-quality work on time, often within an Agile framework.
Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with business partners to understand their needs, provide technical guidance, and develop clear plans for new analytics projects.
Data Modeling & Pipelines: Design, build, and maintain efficient data models and pipelines to ensure our data is accurate, reliable, and ready for analysis.
BI Development & Innovation: Build and maintain impactful data visualizations, dashboards, and self-service analytics tools. Continuously research and implement new technologies to enhance our analytics capabilities.
Quality & Data Integrity: Set the standard for quality development and data governance, ensuring our analytics products are reliable and accurate.
Team Mentorship: Mentor and guide other analysts and developers on the team, encouraging technical growth and a commitment to high-quality work.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.
5 years of hands-on experience in a data-focused role (like BI development, data analysis, or analytics engineering), with a track record of building and delivering successful data solutions.
Experience leading technical projects, preferably in an Agile environment, and a knack for turning business requirements into clear technical tasks.
Hands-on experience with modern BI and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Looker).
Solid understanding of data warehousing, data modeling, SQL, and how data gets from source to destination (ETL/ELT). Experience with cloud data platforms like BigQuery, is a big plus.
Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, with a demonstrated ability to influence and align cross-functional teams and senior leadership.
A strategic thinker with strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
Self-motivated with a keen eye for detail and a passion for building user-friendly tools that make a real business impact.
Prior experience in a retail, e-commerce, or consumer goods environment is preferred.
Experience leading or mentoring a team of analysts or developers.
