Provide consultative occupational therapy services for the United Preschool program consumers as required by state regulation.
- ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Evaluate Occupational Therapy related consumer needs
- Develop program protocols (positioning in coordination with PT, upper extremity splint, and therapeutic mealtime in coordination with SPL)
- Work closely with PT in determining needs related to positioning, transfers, toileting, lifting, transfers, adapted equipment, etc.
- Work closely with SPL in determining mealtime needs and communication / technology access
- In-service new staff on Back Safety / Lifting and areas of O.T. oversight
- In-service staff on implementation of protocols, written programs, transfers, adaptive equipment, back safety, etc., as needed
- Monitor program needs and provide classroom consultation as necessary
- Assess program needs for, and monitor the condition of adapted equipment (seating, positioning, toileting, transfers, ADL, etc.); also, order equipment as needed
- Use established intra- and inter- agency channels of communication
- Communicate with families and residences as needed
- Communicate with vendors, clinics, therapists, and doctors, as needed
- Read, analyze and interpret O.T.related reports
- Document work as follows :
- Record Log of Service Contact Record obtained via observation,
assessment, or as communicated by staff, families, or vendors
- Prepare annual paperwork as specific to each program (Abilities Profile
with Outcomes and Ongoing Services; Safeguards; goals; etc.).
- Maintain Rosters (Loaned Wheelchairs, Mechanical Lifters, Recliners, etc.).

- Attend meetings : Clinicals, ITTs, Annuals, Semi-Annuals (as needed, at O.T. discretion), Special Meetings, etc.
- Serve on agency committees as needed

- EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE
- Graduate of an educational program with a Baccalaureate or entry-level masters degree in Occupational Therapy
- CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- Passing the exam of the National Board for Certification in O.T. (NBCOT) and professional licensure by the New York State Educational Department / Office of the Professions

- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
