Job Summary and Qualifications

The RN Triage Nurse, through the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation, is adept at coordinating and delivering care to Oncology and Infusion patients effectively.

About this unit :

• We take care of complex oncology and infusion patients in a supportive environment that fosters teamwork.
• Patient population is often recurring, which in turn we build relationships with them and their families
• Monday Friday work schedule no nights or weekends!

Responsibilities :

• The role of the Triage Nurse is to perform patient care under the direction of the Director / Clinical Nurse Manager.
• The Oncology Triage Nurse serves as a resource for patients / families, physicians, nurses, social workers, and other healthcare team specialists to ensure the patient progresses towards care goals and receive cancer care driven by evidence based guidelines.

What qualifications you will need :

• Graduate from an accredited school of nursing with either an ADN or BSN degree.
• Currently licensed as a registered professional nurse in the state(s) of practice and / or has an active compact license, in accordance with law and regulation.
• BLS is required upon hire. Chemotherapy / Biotherapy Card from Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) preferred within first 6 months of hire;

required within first year of hire. Certified Oncology Nurse (OCN) from Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation (ONCC) preferred.

Prior experience in a similarly sized facility with similar services provided is preferred. Previous emergency,pre-hospital or critical care preferred.

Previous oncology experience strongly preferred.

Overland Park Regional Medical Center is a 340+ bed facility offering acute medical services to our patients. We are Johnson County’s only Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and Level II Trauma Center.

We have an Accredited Stroke and Chest Pain Center. Our hospital is a premier area destination for Women's & Children’s healthcare services.

We offer the region’s only Maternal Fetal Health Center to care for critically ill mothers and their babies. Our hospital has an antepartum unit, a labor and delivery unit, and a Level III NICU.

We have four emergency rooms, including a dedicated Pediatric emergency room and two freestanding ERs located in Olathe and Shawnee.
