Position Description :

The School of Music at Texas State University seeks an engaging, creative, collaborative, and dedicated teacher / director to serve as a tenure-line Assistant / Associate Professor of Opera Theater or non-tenure-line Assistant / Associate Professor of Practice of Opera Theater. The selected candidate will also serve as Director of Opera Theater. Duties begin August 2026.

The successful candidate will be expected to :

• Direct TXST Opera Theater and produce a minimum of one staged production each semester.
• Teach courses on opera production, opera workshop, and opera theater, and other courses according to the candidate’s qualifications and needs of the School of Music.
• Maintain a record of scholarly / creative activity and make substantive professional contributions to the field of opera.
• Participate in faculty meetings, committees, and service activities.
• Other duties assigned by the Director of the School of Music.
