Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced Charge RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring charge and telemetry experience, with an active IN or Compact RN license.
Responsibilities
Work in the cardiac and medical Progressive Care Unit (PCU) of a short-term acute care hospitalTrue ICU stepdown unit managing heart cath patients and those requiring BiPAP, cardiac and vasoactive dripsPatient ratios : 3 : 1 typical, up to 4 : 1; Charge RNs may have a 2 : 1 assignment if requiredNight shifts (3x12s), block scheduling Friday through SundayPCU nurses are required to float within hospital or to affiliate hospitals as neededNo on-call responsibilitiesUses Cerner charting systemScrub colors are red tops and black bottomsCharge RNs will take a limited patient assignment if staffing requiresMust work at least 2 out of 3 major holidaysAll travelers must float to different units or affiliate hospitals as neededFirst-time travelers are welcome to applyReturning permanent or PRN employees must be separated for at least 12 months before applying as a travelerAuto-approval for up to 5 days of non-holiday requested time offFree parking is availableBiPAP, Levo, Dopa, Nitro, Cardizem, Amio, and cardiac crisis criteria experience are part of core responsibilitiesRequirements
Active IN or Compact RN license in hand prior to start18 months of recent PCU or ICU stepdown RN experience requiredRecent charge nurse experience requiredCertifications required : ACLS and BLS (NIHSS preferred)Experience in telemetry, IV start, cardiac and vasoactive drips, BiPAP, and high flow oxygen therapy requiredUniversity must be accredited by the ACEN or CCNE at time of graduationVents, conscious sedation, and previous charge RN experience preferredTwo supervisor references required for considerationLocal candidates not accepted for PCU positionsBenefits
