The Data Scientist will apply advanced statistical and machine learning techniques to analyze automotive industry datasets, extracting insights to drive evidence-based decision-making and address business challenges. This involves collaborating with SE&O teams to identify data needs, developing solutions to interpret Service and Vehicle data (repair orders, mobile app clicks, vehicle health alerts, prognostic data), and identifying new data sources for actionable insights. The role also includes designing, maintaining, and enhancing predictive models to support strategic decisions and operational efficiency, aligned departmental objectives. The role also enables the business to interact with data via visualization tools.
What you'll do...
Apply advanced statistical techniques and machine learning algorithms to analyze extensive datasets within the automotive industry, uncovering trends, patterns, and correlations crucial for addressing key business challenges.
Drive evidence-based decision-making processes by extracting insights from large, complex structured and unstructured data sets.
Collaborate with SE&O teams to identify data requirements and derive actionable insights from research findings.
Develop data solutions enabling business teams to interpret data generated by connected vehicles, including dealership repair order, mobile app click, vehicle health alert, and prognostic data to further facilitate informed decision-making and proactive actions.
Identify and explore additional data sources, evaluating their potential for generating actionable business insights.
Design, maintain, and enhance predictive models, supporting strategic decision-making and operational efficiency within the company.
Align departmental objectives and metrics with the connected vehicle dealer / customer journey, establishing quantifiable outcomes to track progress and success.
Create comprehensive dashboards and processes for SE&O supporting workstreams such as Low Cost Per Repair, Fix it Right the First Time and Design For Service.
Mentor more junior team members on the SE&O Analytics team.
You'll have...
Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Actuarial Science (Applied Statistics), Mathematics, Computer Science or similar
Experience with Ford Motor Company or another automotive OEM, preferably in vehicle service
Minimum of 7 years of work experience, with 5+ years in a data driven field
Database & Query knowledge and Understanding – Google Cloud Platform, Hadoop, Teradata or Oracle
SQL, BigQuery, Jupyter Notebook Experience
Strong analytical programming skills including Languages like R, Python, and SAS
Proven experience in data design, data architecture and data modeling (both transactional and analytic)
Visualization development – relevant experience utilizing GCP Looker, Qlik Sense or Power BI
Strong teammate with collaborative problem-solving skills and customer focus
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with clear communication
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills for effective communication
Ability to anticipate obstacles and drive change creatively
Quick learner, highly self-motivated, and inventive
Outstanding organization, communication skills, and adherence to ethical values
