POSITION SUMMARY
To coordinate, implement, and plan surgical care to persons with breast health concerns in a timely and accurate manner.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Formal Education / Training:
LPN or Medical Assistant, diploma or certification required.
Workplace Experience:
Coordination of Surgical Care Delivery for Breast Health Services
Equipment and Skills Training:
Standard patient care equipment for services provided. The ability to work well under pressure, to function dependently and independently and to be flexible in applying basic nursing knowledge to a variety of setting. Equipment: Network Computer System
Physical Environment:
An Oncology medical/surgical unit and outpatient clinic whose patient population ranges consists of adults > 18yrs of age.
Physical Effort:
Able to communicate in English verbally and legibly.
Able to stand/work for up to eight hours a day.
Ability to travel when needed to area Breast Cancer functions.
Able to lift with assistance up to 50 lbs.
PERFORMANCE STANDARDS
- Responsible for intake of new patient referrals and obtaining necessary records and imaging needed for surgical consult
- Scheduling and preparing orders for Radiology appointments as requested by surgeon
- Responsible for coordination of benign breast disease follow-up with Breast Center providers
- Pre op education patients scheduled for surgery
- Organizes surgical appointment needs and the sequence of treatments to assure the physician can comply with the treatment plan.
- Provides providers to whom the patient is referred with timely data on patient progress.
- Establishes and maintains positive working relationships with key internal and external customers. Collaborates with navigation and other staff to optimize patient experience.
