Job Title : Operations Manager
Reporting Relationship : Vice President, Operations
Summary :
Responsible for overseeing all aspects of the plant, including researching, and purchasing of new equipment, management of the material handlers, housekeeping, and other day to day operations. Identifies opportunities for improvement and resolution of cross departmental issues affecting plant operations. Plays a significant role in Kaizen projects, GEMBRA Walks, the instituting of visual metrics and assists with training as needed.
Job Duties :
- Collaborate with various departments and managers to evaluate and coordinate activities to support plant operations.
- Make decisions utilizing various departments input while performing analytical, logical, objective problem solving using the 4M’s- methods, manpower, material, and machinery
- Applies knowledge of functional area to conduct system and process analysis, identifies opportunities for improvement, and makes recommendations to management
- Diagnoses problem areas; develops and implements corrective action plans
- Organize, facilitate, and lead Corrective Action Plans to address root-causes of recurring downtime
- Participates in designing and overseeing new systems, projects and processes that improve and enhance plant performance in the area of safety, quality, productivity, and cost reduction
- Regularly inspect operating equipment to ensure it is safe to use
- Organize and lead a continuous Quality Improvement Team
- Provide ongoing input and feedback to help optimize production schedules working with the Scheduler to meet delivery requirements, inventory management and resource utilization.
- Manage material and inventory goods movements and track levels of material inventory to ensure materials are available for planned production
- Counsel, coach, motivate, and train employees to meet or exceed Pharmacal expectations to help improve employee retention.
- Maintain high standards for housekeeping and organization
- Work with the maintenance supervisor on scheduling preventive maintenance program that is required to maintain productivity.
- Direct and monitor plant personnel in accordance with OSHA regulations and companies’ safety program
- Organize training programs for the production personnel, contribute to training and development of the team.
- Work with HR to influence hire of qualified and stable employees
- Manage and direct day to day duties of material handlers
- Work as the train the trainer for all material handlers
- Approve maintenance work, purchasing of equipment etc.
- Collaborate with Regulatory on the disposal of damaged, expired, or rejected chemicals and components
- Manage all the scrap material and work with the recycling company to dispose of product on a timely matter
- Collaborate with purchasing to ensure all safety / cleaning supplies are stocked, all return barrels / totes are scheduled for pickup, and inventory needs are met
- Oversee and manage the warehouse’s needs for space requirements
- Provide support to all other departments in assisting with resolution of related issues
- Assist in the optimization of facility flow of materials, storage, and potential expansion.
