Job Summary
The EHS Manager is responsible for overseeing safety programs at the Amelia, Chickering / Color Intermediates (Cincinnati), and Independence, KY facilities. This role ensures employee safety, regulatory compliance, and effective accident investigation and review. The manager is expected to align safety procedures and practices with industry standards and best practices, proactively identifying risks and implementing solutions to maintain a safe work environment.
The position has broad latitude to act independently on most safety-related matters, with consultation required for decisions involving financial expenditures. It involves planning and executing safety initiatives, solving technical and operational challenges, and coordinating with various departments and external agencies.
Successful performance in this role results in a well-managed safety program, regulatory compliance, and timely submission of government permits. Failure to meet expectations may lead to employee injuries and noncompliance with governmental reporting requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage all safety-related training and conduct new hire safety orientation (15%)
- Maintain OSHA log, prepare monthly and quarterly safety statistics, conduct hazard assessments, and participate in Management of Change reviews (10%)
- Manage industrial hygiene programs including air sampling and noise dosimetry. Coordinate medical monitoring and workers’ compensation programs (5%)
- Conduct regular safety tours, audit, and ensure corrective actions are implemented and sustained (15%)
- Recommend safety improvements and implement ergonomic solutions (5%)
- Coordinate subcontractor safety compliance with Engineering Department and update safety standards (5%)
- Ensure OSHA compliance across manufacturing, process control, laboratories, and scheduling groups (5%)
- Review accident analyses and assist in implementing corrective actions (10%)
- Chair safety committees and promote safety awareness across all facilities. Coordinate compliance with permits and codes (15%)
- Represent the site with regulatory agencies and manage EH&S submittals. Ensure environmental compliance and reporting. Track incident investigations and update EHS policies (10%)
- Perform other projects as assigned (5%)
Managerial Impact
This role supports multiple facilities : Amelia, Chickering / Color Intermediates, and Benda Lutz. Travel is required approximately 50% of the time to manage Cincinnati / Northern Kentucky area facilities.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in environmental health and safety or a related fieldMinimum of five years’ experience in a safety or engineering roleThree to five years managing industrial safety programs, including government permittingStrong knowledge of federal, state, and local safety regulations Technical ProficiencySkilled in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPointSolid understanding of OSHA regulations and compliance standardsCommunication and Leadership
