Job description

Overview

Grants and Contracts Administrator (Post-Award), Office of Research and Innovation, 33362 at University of Missouri-Kansas City. The Office of Research and Innovation (ORI) supports externally funded research and sponsored activities by working with principal investigators and their fiscal officers to manage and monitor awards at UMKC.

The role ensures that university and federal regulations are met and that award funds are documented to support sound financial management.

Responsibilities

  • Establish spending accounts for sponsored projects
  • Monitor expenditures for appropriate spending practices
  • Manage all amendments to assigned research projects (including changes to personnel, budget, scope, timeline, or subcontracts)
  • Coordinate with UM System financial team regarding draw down of federal funds
  • Assist with documentation and explanation of audits related to the assigned portfolio
  • Serve as liaison for PIs to sponsors, external subaward sites, and other UMKC offices (Technology Transfer, Finance, General Counsel, Export Control, etc.)
  • Manage and monitor all invoicing and billing related to the assigned portfolio
  • Create and negotiate external subaward agreements
  • Review and submit all fiscal and final reporting requirements on behalf of PIs
  • Communicate and track that final invoices are sent and collected in a timely manner to ensure compliant flow of award funds
  • Advise PIs and departmental staff on allowable and unallowable costs

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 4 years of experience providing comparable knowledge and skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Two years of experience in a research administration role, preferably in an academic setting.

Anticipated Hiring Range

The anticipated hiring range is $52,915 - $54,915, commensurate with experience, education, and internal equity.
