PT Overnight Engineer (Weekend Availability)
Reports to : Chief Operating Engineer, position is non-exempt

THE ROLE The Overnight Engineer reports to the Chief Operating Engineer, and like all qualified engineers, possesses the diverse knowledge of electrical, plumbing, steam, gas, fire & safety, and HVAC refrigeration.
As a working engineer, this position is required to be hands-on and dive into the day-to-day operation, service and repairs of hotel equipment, so if you prefer to see the forest and not willing to plant the trees , this is not a role for you.
The role will also actively develop trusting and transparent relations with fellow associates of the hotel. WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Uphold and role model the company’s principles of People, Place and to ensure the experiences of translocal hospitality, intuitive service, and collaboration
- Maintain a good working relationship with other associates by promoting teamwork and fostering a harmonious working environment
- Ensure consistent contact with the front office by signing out a radio and being present at or near the front desk at all times.
- Responsibilities include maintaining all equipment, systems and building components including, but not limited to, mechanical and electrical systems, pumps, HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, locks, furniture, paint, wall coverings, tile, and other equipment
- Handle routine maintenance, repairs and cleanliness in guest rooms, public spaces, event space, outlets, back of house spaces and grounds
- Handle security concerns such as noise complaints, or any guest Issues, professionally, calmly and urgently to ensure all guests Involved and in the surrounding area are taken care of to the fullest extent.
Report all concerns in the end of day report.
- Demonstrate familiarity with the hotel’s safety systems and takes corrective action on any maintenance or operating problems which affect the security or operating condition of the hotel
- Participate in the room preventative maintenance program
- Use your skills and intuition to detect equipment malfunction and discusses machine operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose problem or repair
- Repair and maintain physical structure of establishment and furnishings as needed
- Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies / service procedures / standards; Participate in all scheduled training classes and meetings
- Transport heavy boxes and packages within the hotel for maintenance and repairs
- Assist in delivery and setup of all new equipment such as televisions, mattresses, tables, chairs, etc.
- Clear guest hallway garbage throughout the evening to ensure cleanliness throughout the evenings.
- Communicate with Chief Operating Engineer on projects as assigned
- Respond to all guest requests in a timely and personable manner
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in building maintenance; previous experience as a hotel engineer preferred or comparable experience at an establishment such as apartment complex or office building
- Basic knowledge of refrigeration systems, electricity, HVAC, and plumbing, certifications are a plus
- Proficiency of the English language in reading, writing and verbal communication
- Ability to sit, stand and walk for extended periods, bend, climb stairs and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to work by yourself, lead yourself, make it count!
- Ability to work varied shifts, that may include days, nights, weekends, and holidays
